Here are the bits needed for a larger starter.

Battery: (used in the MX-5)

Tray:

Post clamp: see pics...available everywhere in multiple versions.

Remove (unscrew) one of the hold down block wings, cover sheet needs to be cut/trimmed for Neg post terminal.

This set-up was tested for a couple months last winter.

Rob.

I call this the Canadian Prairie edition battery pack.

Also, I could see using it for the starter battery, but for the dump packs this kind of concerns me: "capable of 100 percentage recharge in 4 - 6 hours" From my usage of the powersonic dumps, it reaches full charge in 4 to 6 seconds. I realize I am not comparing from fully depleted, but I am no expert at batteries. I am still trying to figure out how to compare Amp hours to Cold cranking amps. Based on Amazon, the price is slightly under double. ~$140 shipped. So to replace would cost $420. Which would be a comparable price if the 1.5 kit was still optional. Plus, the dump harness would have to be modified/replaced.
Don't have any odyssey batteries at the moment. Hopefully, one day Rob may test them. He told me he has tested some heavier duty Powersonic with little difference in results. Supposedly the Odyssey's are different.

Recovery rate (recharge?) is better with the odyssey, according to my battery guy. (I'm definitely no expert in lots of things, one of which is batteries)

In no way am I suggesting replacing the 0.5dump pack, it was just a comment by the battery guy re the short discharge amps available from the Odyssey.

As the open source guys appear to be finding, ESC's involve a bit of voodoo, so I'll be leaving the improvements to Rob.

It's possible that the Odyssey is a better start battery...but we wont know until someone (in a cold climate) tests it.
Apparently the Odyssey is capable of delivering much higher amps for short periods (such as starting) Though I agree the No's would suggest otherwise.

I have an odyssey in my living room. Going to hook it up by the end of the week, when it gets less than 30 degrees out I'll report back. My battery seems to do great down to 30 or so then it falls off rapidly.

Thanks @Target70

I went with OFT and glad I did. Stage 1 93oct tune right now and can tell the difference. Tone of the engine changed from VVT adjustments. Also like the soft rev limiter and launch control/2 step feature.

ESC and OFT UEL Header next on the list.

I am missing the black cap to block off the intake air silencer. Anyone know where I could source that part?

1.5 inch rubber pipe cap from lowes, in the plumbing section.

Pump 2 gals premiumr pump gas to 9 gals of e85 and you'll start pretty smooth every time.

@Robftss has 5 kits that are ready to go, people will be getting PM's for those this week. If a response is not received he will move down the list.

So are people being removed from the list when they get their ESC, or decide they don't want one? Are there really 50+ people waiting for 5 ESC's per batch? Will there be another batch ready before Christmas? Any idea how long I'll have to wait?

I learned about the Noco GB30 JumpStarter here, so I figure I'll share a great deal I just got on it: $94.12 shipped (Regular street price is $129.99).

Noco GB30 JumpStarter: $99.99
Coupon Code- MK39743: 15% Off $100

Add something cheap to get over the $100 mark (I bought some scouring pads for $1.99) and since I'm in NJ I had to pay sales tax.

Final Price for me: $94.12 shipped

Full throttle Electric Supercharger Build Thread

Not that it matters here in San Diego but I snagged an odyssey battery for shits and giggles. I'll let you guys know how it fits and works.

I have one of these in my BRZ's spare tire compartment just in case. Fits easily, and I tried it for grins and definately gets the starter spinnng quicker. Mine has always started ok with the ESC battery system, but I just wanted a little extra insurance, and it functions as an emergency phone charger to boot.

I ran 2 odysseys as dump packs with the additions of 2 half dumps, We saw no gains, only difference was they didn't need to be warmed up, I could hit full boost off the bat however the dump packs would need to drain a few times before they proved useful.

@robwbright Sorry Ive been loosely following this thread as of late. Are you still having battery issues? did you determine if it was the start battery that has gone bad? do you have the stock battery still? maybe install back in the car and drive around for a week without the ESC, this could help you determine if have a drainage issue, just an idea.

P.S. Im back to the original starter battery, the same one majority of us are using, it was -20C - -25C in calgary this week and the car wasn't started for 4 days and still started pretty decently.
Cheers

I left my car off for 5 days during my thanksgiving break. When I came back this morning, the car started nice and strong with no hesitations. I don't think it's a drain; my problem was mostly likely weather-related.
