There is definitely a regional variance in the number of modded cars (southern California has a very strong car culture...) - and of course a sampling bias in that the modded cars tend to attract more attention so they seem like a higher percentage to enthusiasts.

The particular car was the same color as mine too, which probably contributed to its effect on me!

I also think there’s a big difference in how many stock 13s are out there compared to how many clean stock 13s are out there.

In Santa Rosa, California we have like half a dozen guys with rocketbunny/wide body kits for a fairly small city/town. Many I see have modifications from the small/cheap to the large/expensive. Completely stock older 86s are rare--newer ones are more common.

Well, if by "clean stock" you mean "like new" probably zero if they were driven at all. Most need a hood respray at minimum.

None of the renders I’ve seen appeal to me. The twins seems to be a car that peaked early styling wise - the 2013-15s still look the best, the facelift didn’t help matters.

Honestly hard to get excited about an uglier MkII that is more expensive and offers up just 20HP extra for nearly 10 years of automotive progress whilst no doubt increasing in price.

It all depends on which render you want to believe based on phoney "reports".

I feel targeted. My hood developed a 1/4” oxidized spot over the past 6 months, and the spoiler is starting to look hazy. Gonna spend some time cutting and polishing this weekend.

I think the facelift on the 86 wasn’t the best (no offence to +17 86 owners ), but the facelift on the BRZ was an improvement. All subjective of course.

15 in Canada. 30% of the 50 total. A quick internet search didn't turn up a single Hakone in stock in Canada. All that the dealerships have is the normal Toyota features page.

Is having only TRD parts on it considered ‘stock’? Haha

Btw, lets say next gen isn’t turbo- will our current gens hold value?

I am not sure if they can make a next generation anymore. This year the BRZ pricing was increased by 15% in Europe. Reason was that EU is targeting on average a 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer, an objective that Subaru couldn't meet. So, they had to pay a fine of 95 euros for every extra gram of CO2 and the biggest part of this was transferred to the consumers.

I am sure that Subaru will have similar problems in other regions with the continuously stricter emission rules. If not now, for sure in the near future.

-He has seen early renders and said they look incredible
- The engine will be borrowed the current Subaru Ascent (2.4L, 4-cyclinder)
- however will be bumped up to 280hp (vs 260hp in the base Ascent)
-The BRZ Version will be the only one that will have an optional turbocharger. Unknown if Toyota will offer later

I'll try and get more info out of my family member. But thoughts? Has this info already been discovered or discussed?

Depends how the car is recieved I imagine. If it's a far enough departure from the current platform and people don't like it then it will benefit "us" with current gen cars.

---------------

Our local FT86 community is pretty strong. Good mix of modified cars and stock ones. I see as many stock as modified cars around town. A few "interestingly* modified cars.

Mine currently looks mostly stock while I wait for ARP studs. Only visual things are a black lip, and mudflaps, and some shiny looking exhaust tips.
