Tuning my BRZ like a spastic
Hi Guys
I am new here, and have always been interested in efi tuning. I am looking for a little bit of advice. I am sure this question has probably been asked several times but I cannot seem to find any results regarding the specifics of what i need to know. So I have recently flashed my BRZ with one of waynes roms (based on the OFT base maps) with an e85 tune. It is running very well. so well in fact that the car is not knocking or pinging what so ever. basically, the IAM stays at 1 no matter how hard i drive it. knock detection ignition advance also shoots straight to 5 (the max on this specific tune) when ever I go WOT. I have been tinkering with ignition timing now for a few tunes. ive bumped the KDIA up to 8, and have increased the timing by a few degrees at higher engine loads between 5500 and 7000 RPM. According to my logs, I am still maxing out the KDIA and my ignition timing is up towards the 36 degree advance region at Peak HP RPM at peak load. My question is thus; Am I ok to just, keep going? should I just keep bumping up the timing slowly until I get some sort of ignition retard or no longer see my KDIA maxing out and then retard it a few degrees? Do i need to mess with fueling, Valve control or any of that jazz? If so, if anyone has any experience with tuning an e85 tune and could offer me some basic advice, you would really be helping a gal out. Thanks in advance guys, i love these forums lots of helpful posts and friendly atmosphere |

I don't do my own tuning much, but @steve99 's signature block is a good place to start

Warning on petrol the engine is generally knock limited ie it will start to knock before you pass MBT ie max torque\power. On E85 its often not knock limited ie as you keep increasing timing the power actualky falks off bwfore you see onock. To tune for power on e85 you need a dyno to monitor piwer\torque

Wayno knows his shit. Not sure I would tweak his tunes too much.

The openflash timing for E85 was already good, just needed some minor smoothing.
You only need to be concerned with getting the AFR right. After that just enjoy the car. http://site.wayneroms.com:8000/#mafscales |
