I never said they were they same, nor did I ever say they were quality, in fact I think I said they were crap. But that sometimes cheap crap works, and sometimes it doesn't

DD has a fantastic warranty and they are willing to work with you to fix your issue. Maybe try out at least one more set (*for free*) before abandoning a product you already paid for. Just my 2 pennies
I received 2 sets of bulbs from Diode Dynamics and both sets caused the issue. Nothing against Diode Dynamics, they were responsive through email and as helpful as they could be.

I am going to try the ones I purchased from The Retrofit Source and see how it goes. They are on back order though, and should ship out by Feb 28th... so I don't have an update yet on whether the bulbs are definitely the issue.

I ordered these: D4S Philips 42402 WX Ultinon

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...7#.Vq_krVIsA40

They only had 2 options on The Retrofit Source site when I placed my order. Morimoto wasn't one of them. And the other brand I didn't recognize lol

You reduced light output, not improved it and probably went from high quality OEM bulbs to Chinese stuff.

Ordering a set from an OEM brand was a good move.

This.

You have less usable light, not more.

Also - did you swap out the ballasts as well when you swapped out the bulbs? The stock ballasts may not play nicely with the aftermarket bulbs due to in rush current demands.

What's the lumen output on factory 4300's? Secondly what is the wattage of the factory 4300's if there 35 watt like the Phillips there shouldn't be any more load than factory.

And one more thing if they're are instant ignition like the factory there would not be a difference in startup load compared to factory either.

I had the exact same issue and dd sent me a new pair no questions asked. I haven't installed them yet as my car is in storage for the winter... Hope they turn out good.

These are the replacement bulbs they sent me

you can usually tell if the bulbs are either decent quality or cheap chinese crap if you look at the bulb closely. there should be a little bubble where there are salts inside. look at that bubble and if there is barely any salt in there, it is usually a sign of a lower quality bulb. take a look at both bulbs and see if the salts in each bulb are about the same amount. usually, cheaper bulbs have bad QC and the salts would differ in each bulb.

idk i feel like i see better with a "whiter" light as opposed to a "yellower" light. How is it less usuable? just wondering?

and no i only swapped out the bulbs. i did not touch the ballasts.

Well this makes me worried after looking at my bulbs lol. Only time will tell I guess.... Then again I really don't know what I'm looking at and I do believe in DD and the products

I also had a problem with a set of DD's 6000k bulbs. The driver's side went out. I put my OEM's back in and no problems. They were about 9 months old. Did you notice any strange smells coming from the fixture when you took the bad ones out? That worried me. The connector looked kinda dirty/corroded as well.

I've had a lot of other dealings with Diode Dynamics by the way, including changing my mind on color temps and such, and they've always had great service.

Well it doesn't necessarily mean the bulb won't work. It is just basically a sign that the bulb is a cheaper version since salts cost money and less salt equals a hotter running bulb and inconsistent arcing of electricity throughout the bulb. That is also one of the reasons OEM bulbs cost more, among other reasons.
