My steering wheel is stuck: Cusco steering wheel
Installed a new cusco steering wheel tonight. Everything went smooth until I noticed an alignment issue. I said no biggie but tried to pull the cusco wheel off and now it's stuck. Like stuck stuck, I feeling like I'm doing damage to the wheel every time I pull on it!
And before anyone asks yes I did take the nut off the steering wheel. Anyone know a way to get the wheel off without pulling too hard? Liquid wrench? TIA |

screw the nut back on for a few threads so that there is space between the steering wheel and nut. then start wiggling the steering wheel back and forth and side to side while pulling back. the nut is there so that you don't hit your face with the steering wheel. it will come off eventually unless you jammed the steering wheel on incorrectly (which I highly doubt you did)

I think I overtightened it too much. I used that method to get the stock wheel off but it isn't working to take the cusco one off. I'm gonna soak that area in pb blaster tmrw and then give it a try.

I had the same problem with my aftermarket steering wheel. Use the steering wheel puller from Autozone that they rent. You'll just need metric bolts, because the kit comes with standard bolts.

Just used the steering wheel puller with metric bolts and it popped right off! I was surprised how small of a socket wrench was required when using the puller, even though I used a huge torque wrench to tighten it down.
I bought the metric bolts required at Home Depot. They are: (x2) M8-1.25 x90mm "cap screw" and it worked like a charm. |
