I don't know. I'm of the belief that danger, mortal or not, is a part of life. The idea is to live as fully as you can without crossing the line from danger to dead. Sometimes you misjudge, sometimes you're just stupid, and sometimes someone else's stupidity (or worse) takes the decision out of your hands. I've come very close to the line for all three reasons. It's the last one that pisses me off.

We have laws against drunk driving. This protects the individual and others.
We have laws that require seat belts. This protects the individual.
We have laws that require helmets. This protects the individual.

People rarely protest against these laws. Even my most libertarian and conservative friends tell their kids to buckle up.

So I feel perfectly comfortable having laws around vaccines:
1. If you have chosen not to get vaccinated for any reason other than actual, significant, and documented adverse personal reactions to vaccines, then you get no insurance coverage for any COVID related treatment. You and your estate are on the hook.
2. Have a public vaccine passport database with verification of identity. Then businesses can know who is and isn't vaccinated and treat people accordingly. Not vaxxed? Stay online. People cannot be trusted, and some are so slimy as to fake vaccine cards.

I heard in the news that the provinces here are discussing with the feds some type of authenticated passport system here to prevent counterfeiting, which I would expect. I mean there are so many nice people, especially from China that send us regular shipments for Fentanyl, so we don't run out, so why wouldn't we trust people?

They are even triple-vaxxing some people so they can travel to countries that don't recognize using 2 different vaxxines as we have, based on supply and AstroZeneca issues.

It must be difficult for health professionals in the hospitals to avoid being judgmental when they receive unvaccinated Covid19 admissions.

Not really given health professionals have the same biases around vaccines as the general population.

Roger that.

At my last routine physical in March I asked my primary care doc why slightly over half of front line health care workers are declining any vaccine (I'd read at the time). His answer: "They're stupid!"

He's on the board of directors of the hospital with 2,500 employees and one of his responsibilities was to order Pfizer vaccine for everyone. He sent out a survey and it was almost 100% wanting the jab so he ordered 5,000 doses total. When the first shipment arrived, only 20% showed up. He wound up sending the rest to the state before it expired.

In the interval before the second shipment arrived, most employees had changed their mind and wanted a shot but he had already committed most of the second shipment to the state and told them they'd have to go to the mass vaccination centers on their own time.

A friend who is both a Professor in a College of Business and a practicing attorney suggests that there are two things to remember about physicians. First, 50% graduated in the bottom half of their class and second, do you know what you call the guy who graduated last in his class from med school? - Doctor.

I'm pretty sure I've been treated by one or more of the latter.

The doctors are getting vaccinated, by and large. It's the uneducated nurses, orderlies, and so on who aren't. The more educated a person is, the more likely they are to get vaccinated. Not sure how many people have to die for them to learn, but people are frightened animals. No wonder so many assholes take advantage of them.

Fwiw I'm pro vaccine and have been immunized but I'm skeptical of the recent numbers being reported. The numbers shown by the wapo are positive test results not necessarily positive cases. They're also including presumptive positive results whatever that means. All political bullshit imo designed to strengthen the fear and further divide the country.

Hospitalizations and deaths seem to be keeping up. What evidence do you have for your hypothesis?

If hospitalizations kept pace with positive test results Florida would be a warzone. My point is that the numbers should represent positive cases only, not multiple results for one person or presumptive positives.
