FA20 is sold and ready to go.
The new heart arrived quicker then expected, this is a Ford 3.7 V6 from a '14 Mustang. I came across this brand spanking new one for a steal. 305 hp 280 tq I'm trying to liquidate all my turbo stuff first so no real quick progress on this but Im excited to have finally picked a motor.

Rough test fit, hit where I expected, plenty of room where I wanted it.

Why this engine and not a turbo or supercharger?

I've had at least 2 turbo setups on this car, just looking for something new and different. As the old saying goes, there's no replacement for displacement.

I'm hoping to make a few more HP. By the time it's running it will have headers, exhaust, intake and a tuned standalone. Maybe something more exciting then pump 93 if I feel up to it.

Finally getting back to some cage work. Trying out door bar designs, I like how this is looking.

Cage is just about done, now back onto the engine swap. Cutting up a 3.5 FWD oil pan, it looks like a better starting point then the rear sump Mustang pan.

I noticed the 3.7 water-to-oil cooler is off the engine. Could you please post a picture of its rear (i.e. the mating surface between the cooler and its mount on the engine)?
I'd like to compare it to the 2012+ 5.0 Boss Mustang cooler kit I have on my bench for my BRZ oil system cooler project (2 qt accusump install, filter relocate, and cooler). The Mustang cooler has water inlets that are bent as well as the block mounting flange has a 270 degree lip that protrudes from the mounting flange's surface. The straight inlet/outlet and a flat rear flange would make my life much easier. Appreciate the help as I can find nothing on the Net that shows the rear of the cooler. If it will be a better fit for my adapter, and you're not going to use it I'll buy it from you. Thanks |
