Ticked off because a car bud who is a year younger has longer credit history, therefore is paying much, much less than I am. Yes, other factors do come into play but we do have similar everything else, cept credit report history.

Credit history makes sense for a loan but I am baffled how it impacts your driving ability and risk.

Ahhh there we go! It is a relatively new thing. Also yet another scammy practice in my books!

"A new trend is being adopted by large insurance companies in Canada and the United States. Among the factors used to determine premiums on home and auto insurance, credit scores are now part of the equation. In other words, your financial history could play a part in determining how much you pay for insurance.
Many insurance companies justify this decision by drawing a comparison between credit history and financial responsibility. Credit score is presented as a predictor of the likelihood a customer will continue to pay monthly premiums on time. Therefore, customers with poor credit scores theoretically pose a higher risk, leading to an increase in their premiums to compensate. Additionally, insurance companies allege that bad credit leads to an increase in claims for insureds. A study by EPIC Actuaries from 2003 found a correlation between credit scores and claim frequencies. The chart below shows claim frequency on the vertical axis, and credit score on the horizontal axis"

Refinance? I already paid my car off.

Mine is around 720-740 depending on who I pull it from due to their usage of different credit models. Guess I'll continue to shop around every 6 months, though I doubt anyone can beat progressive currently.

...
Yeah, its BS. What if I'm making 100k/year but have a short credit history? (just pulling numbers outta my ass)

Ridiculous I tell you.

Anyways, going to an SCCA rules proposal meeting instead of paying attention to this shitty election. Talking cars and stuff with other people beats the hell outta drinking to death over the future of 'Murica.

@soulreapersteve ........ reminds me of the time, just after I got off active duty from the Army, we moved to California and rented an unfurnished apartment.

I never had a credit card and had always paid cash for everything. Well, I was a bit low on cash and went to Sears to buy a bed and open a Sears charge account.

They wouldn't allow me to open an account (thus buy a bed) because I didn't have any credit history. So, we slept on the floor for over a month, while I was establishing a credit history.

Yep, a college graduate, a captain in the Army (inactive) and I couldn't buy a BED on credit.

Oh yes, "C" rations, heated up can be quite tasty ....... if you drink enough whisky before you eat ...... just ask @Tcoat and @Cole ......

Hey, you'll survive.

humfrz
Honestly, Hum, I wasn't in soon enough to have the C rations, however, our IMP's (individual meal packs or packages or packets or whatever) have quite a few tasty items on the menu. Breakfasts are the worst, with the hash browns and sausage being the only good ones. Lunches are the real winners, with a good 90% of them being great and dinners have about 60% delicious rate.

But, after you've been in the field for 8 days in December, literally any one of them is amazing if they're hot enough, and of course you brew the included coffee (or, mix up your Starbucks Via packs, providing you have family who loves you enough to send them to you) just right.

That is absolute horseshit. "Hey, you have shit credit, so you're going to overpay for insurance, even though we know you'll probably miss a payment or two because it's so high"
