Hit pothole blew tire.... now have odd sound

Hey i was not sure what sub forum to ask this in....
But anyhow my girl was driving a back road today and hit a large crack in the road. I know the spot well, it is about a 4 inch break/drop in the road. But it is hard to avoid if there is oncoming traffic. The car seemed to hit it pretty hard and immediately started making a squeaking sound, (almost sounded like the normal DI motor sound but a lot louder) also the low tire pressure light came on on the dash. I had her pull over as soon as we got to a safe area.

The sidewall had a 1 inch cut in it. We put on the spare with no issues and the car drove off fine but when we started coming to a stop, the car made a "whooring" sound almost like when you stomp on the breaks. It also makes the sound but to a lesser degree while just down shifting and I even coasted to a stop on an incline and made the sound yet to even a lesser degree still.

The car also was making a sound like a tire rubbing on a fender when we turn sharply, but after the car sat for a couple of hours it has now stopped. I am taking the car in tomorrow and going to see if I can get it looked at and a new tire. But my question is the spare tire the cause any of the sounds I am concerned about? I did not seem like my break or rotor was loose either.

Thanks

Car is at the dealer, hopefully it is just the break rubbing or something.

If it's a rear tire, it may be the differential. Or it might just be the spare tire itself as they are usually pretty hard and noisy. It's possible the bearings got damaged too. Otherwise, I'm not sure. Just have them look over everything and see how it sounds after you get the new tire.

Hope this is not the case, but sounds like you bent something. If the impact was big enough to rip your tire then there is a chance that something was bent.

The tech inspected it and they did not see any problems. I am getting the new tire late tomarow. Toyota tech thinks it just the spare causing the noise. He said because it is on the front and while breaking it could cause loud noise due to it's not balanced.
The tire is not cheap either. 260 through toyota next day delivery. Costco cost 180, but has a 3 day wait. Tire rack is at 190+ shipping and local big o and tire pros don't have them available .

Solution: buy 2 new tires that are better for the price of one of those.

I did. I now have Cooper RS3's on the front.

Good news! all is well with the car. Replacing spare with real tire fix the rubbing sound. I do hear it Extremely faintly, but i think i am just being paranoid.
Sadly the ordeal set me back 320$ good thing my shop is not going to charge me to dyno the car before and after i get my intake and cat back

Clayrush, what road were you on that inflicted such damage to your baby? I want to know so I can avoid it, lol.

Not my baby, it's my GF's car :P
But it was Lake Herman Rd. It is a back road between Vallejo and Bencia. The car takes most bumps just fine, i guess she just hit it at the perfect angel. I think part of the issue why it hit so hard is because she was driving 60 MPH and it was on a curve turning right. So I imagine turning in hard on the curve put more pressure on the tires on that side of the car? that and this pothole was not nice and rounded but very sharp like a curb. I told her she just needs to keep a better look out for nasty ones and act like she is on a motorcycle.

But the way California is with shitty roads I am betting this will happen again.
