What basic tool set to get?
So someone just gave me this tool chest, figure i might as well get some real tools to put in it.
 What basic tool set should I get that fits in it? I do my car maintenance and basic bolt on install. Planning to get turbo or sc in future and install myself. |

All the basic wrenches, sockets, screwdriver bits along with pliers and stuff for a decent price. They have them at Costco frequently, every male member in my immediate family has gotten one for a christmas gift. They're more than durable enough for personal use (would not recommend for a professional) and if you manage to actually break something just go out and buy a quality replacement, odds are you'd break another cheap one. Edit: This may not be the particular set I have seems like they reconfigure every year or two for the hell of it, but it's a good starter set.

Go to Sears and buy a Craftsman Mechanic's tool set. They work well, don't feel cheap, and if they break you can bring it back to Sears and they'll get you another one. If they don't have one, they'll mail it to you. This is what I have, for now:
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-220pc...&blockType=G19 Want to say I paid like 90 bucks for it on sale. My father, who has been an ASE certified master tech for decades now, also advised that I pick up a set of Gearwrenches. I haven't used them yet, but he says they're wonderful for his job. |
