AT transmission messing up

Hey guys ive been searching for this problem that my car has been giving me on the fourm still no luck so ill make a thread about it.

I have a AT 2015 frs its my first car and i got when it was brand new recently when i hit 19,000 miles i noticed my car was acting funny in manuel mode, when i would go to about 7000 rpm then shift to second, the screen says its in second gear but the car goes to 5-7 rpm and bouces and my car engine breaks really hard and jerks into second really bad, and then in 2nd gear if you are 4k rpm then shift the car jumps to third like if it got tapped from behind.

I took my car to the dealer for the third time now and they tell me thats what the car does (BS) so i refuse to let them tell me that so i wnet home came on here and searched got the tsb for the tcm done for my car because from what i read i felt like i had similar problems so i decided to get it done and they didnt hesitate to do it but when i got my car back it did it again leaving the dealership, i made another appointment tomorrow to get a ride with the technician i have a video of it and in the video what is happening is im going full throttle not letting go ofnthe gas at all and the car stops like that and you can hear the engine and what its doing, if anybody has any info please comment i would really appreciate it !

The link is right here

I'm sure someone with much more technical knowledge than myself will chime in, but interesting that the TCM reflash didn't fix your issue. I think everyone who went in to get theirs reflashed no longer had tranny issues.

Do you, by any chance, have the summary of the work done on your car regarding the reflash? Don't mind posting it?

Well thats a new one...

It seems like its hitting redline, engine cuts power because of redline, and that is whats causing the delay in shifting to second. If thats what's happening, it probably IS normal.

My AMG will hesitate a bit if I dont shift to 2nd in time in Manual mode also, for the same reason. The computer cuts engine power to prevent bouncing off the limiter while you try to shift to second. That being said, it wont disengage first gear like it seems yours is doing - and return to first gear before finally shifting to second.

Does this still happen if you shift early enough that it doesnt reach the rev limiter?

Inb4 "shoulda got a manual" and/or "totaled"

You also said this is only happening in Manual mode. If its not doing this in auto mode its likely nothing mechanical - and if the tcm has been updated, its probably just how this AT reacts to hitting the rev limiter before being told to upshift.

Dumb question but did you maybe set the rpm limiter at 7K or slightly below and forget about it?

The only time I've ever had my car jerk terribly like you described was bouncing off the rev limiter that I set at 7400 and forgot it was in manual mode when I left from the light

First step, ignore any weird advice from 6MT owners, or any pushback from ignorant dealers.
In auto mode, the car will NEVER hit the stock fuel cut rev limiter.
In manual mode if you up shift any time after hitting fuel cut, the TCM will up shift. The ECU will start fuelling again immediately once below the stock restore point of 7100.

The transmission should lock the clutches within about 0.6s after shifting.
The rpm shouldn't deviate by more than about 100rpm during that time.

If the TCM update for MY15-MY16 doesn't fix the issue, then there's a hardware issue inside the transmission.

Are you talking about the shift indicator light/beep? That doesn't actually change when the rev limiter kicks in; it just notifies you that the engine has reached a certain rpm (whatever you set it at).

nevermind then lol, i just have the light set at 7400 using the stalk on the wheel, nothing in the actual tune of the car for it. Isn't the stock cutoff like 7550 anyway? I probably hit that.

It looked like you hit the rev limiter in 1st. Once the car shifted to 2nd it looks like it cut fuel due to the car hitting the rev limiter. It also seems like the transmission is slipping.

I got 96K out of my AT before it started slipping really bad. This included 2-3 years of autocrossing with a SC and race tires.

I'm interested to see what they say is the cause.
