Yep, that's how I got a 3060ti, took about 10 months. They seemed to have the best purchase system back on the worse days of supply issues. We will never know how many they reserved for their waiting list and how many they sold in bulk.

At the same time, they even made more money from their top tier program where you basically had to spend an X amount of money in order to get first dibs on their list, which can be translated to what Walmart+, Best Buy Total Pro is.

It sucks to lose one of the best customer services for GPUs and pretty solid quality, like I said, is business, and business wasn't doing great once demand fell and supply recovered.

There seems to be quite a mark up over US prices in Aus for the new Nvidia 4000 cards.
RTX 4090 (24GB) – AU$2,959
RTX 4080 (16GB) – AU$2,219
RTX 4080 (12GB) – AU$1,659

A week or so after their new GPUs release would be a great time to start looking for deals. Even events like black-Friday or cyber Monday. Even the holidays.

I'm absolutely happy with my 6900XT and it'll take years until I have to upgrade, but if the new generation can provide way better performance at a more efficient rate, I wouldn't mind upgrading within the next few months. I just want to see benchmarks before I make any decisions.

I've mentioned before I'm yet to see a game where I thought ray tracing made a difference. I've also mentioned on the few modern games I've played I haven't been able to tell much difference, if any, between maximum graphic settings and medium settings. My thinking, maybe justification, is that I don't need a next gen card, the current gen will fulfill my wants for some time to come. Certainly it's time for me to say goodbye to my 1080ti.

I'm also up for a new PSU. The 3 least expensive cards I'm looking at have a minimum recommend PSU rating of 800W and 750W.

@spcmafia What is your PSU rated at?

Honestly a 1080ti still holds a very respectable frame-rate. But getting a good deal on a current gen wouldn't hurt. Specially something like a 3080/68(9)00XT to see a significant difference. Ray tracing is nice to have, just not necessary, DLSS or FSR work pretty well and I would rather have a game that supports the latter.

I currently have a Corsair RMx 1000W PSU Fully modular. I had to switch because of my CPU/GPU/Cooling upgrades, plus better cable management. It was a little overkill, but I like to cover all my bases, plus it was a pretty good deal, $100 or so.

I’ll probably go with AMD this time around for a graphics card and then sell my 3070. Or I’ll run that sucker into the ground. My 5600x is faithful and I see it lasting a while. Though that 5800x3D is tempting…

I've always been Team AMD, back to ATI EGAWonder card. They've never let me down, but then I've never been someone to buy at the bleeding edge of Graphics technology.

Man, I remember the days of ATI. One of the laptops I bought during Airborne School had an ATI graphics and it was a wonderful little computer. Served me well till it's ultimate demise.

I was just remembering my first fancy video card: An ATI FireGL (I was doing 3d modeling with Maya at the time). I really hope AMD somehow decides the can ease up on pricing - it's insane that more than half my PC cost is in that one piece.

I still don't remember what nVidia did to *really* piss me off, but they're on my "nope" list.

I remember why they pissed me off and I have a moral justification for not buying their cards.
Will their one card sale loss make a difference? Nope. Am I being petty? Yep.Does Nvidia care? Nope. But it's the only way I can say, so quietly that no one can hear, F*ck You.
