Working Fender Vent Project... Need your spare parts

Hey Guys... so I decided to start a fender project and need some spare parts.
What you get in return is a working prototypes.

My idea:

1. Take the black portion of the garnish and use it for a template to cut aluminum mesh from.

2. The leftover "arrow" garnish do two things:
a. drill up symmetrical holes to allow the engine heat to vent
b. paint the "valley" portion flat black - so with the mesh in place, all that shows through is black.

3. So what's left is this... because I can't see anyone, even me spending $200+ for something comparable that doesn't even work.

Can you guys help?
I just need some donor black inserts (and maybe a pair of fender garnishes).
I'll supply the aluminum mesh which is available in brushed aluminum and powered coated black.
I'm not looking to "sell" these things. If I get this to work right, I can just publish the how-to online so everyone benefits. The only real cost would be the aluminum mesh and the tools. At this point, the mesh is like $25. The biggest expense are those darn garnished, they are like $100+ a set!

Here's what it will look like...

Why do you need donor black inserts, since you plan to replace those? Can't you just trace a good one and use that as your pattern for the mesh?

Thanks for asking Tom... I just need to borrow the inserts to trace off of.
I'd rather not destroy mine or anyone else's (by pulling it off the garnish) if they happen to have a spare one lying around.

But if no one has one lying around - I'll most likely just destroy mine - per se.

Not a bad idea. Paging @omegared19 since he's done similar to his [non] BRZ vents. I wouldn't mind exploring this option, even pick up a set, drill the holes to make it function. I could see my drawback as color-matching the finished product tho. Otherwise, vent vent vent!

I have been thinking about this for a while. I Found a wrb set for fairly cheap but am still waiting to see paint costs. Match worries me a bit too since it wouldnt be blended.

Well if I can get the process down and documented - there really wouldn't be a need to buy the garnish portion, but the mesh to replace the black inserts.
All the owner would have to do from there is drill out their stock garnish.

Once I get a working unit, I'd send the mesh off to a machine shop to make sets of them.

Yes, @MyRx @finch1750 @garfull, I did. Any help that I can ever lend on the subject will be gladly given. Help in cutting the fenders is offered as well. I have the Dremmell and the cutting discs.

Someone had posed the question on this topic once about a risk of hi/low pressure and balance. Yes this could become an issue. So to those of us planning on breaking the 400kph barrier, remember your Hans device
