RB26 Swapping a BRZ
Hello, I have a 2018 Subaru BRZ and plan to RB26 (R32 Version, not sure if the GTR differs) swap it in a few years. I'd like some people to help me put together a part list, preferably in the best condition and newest it can be. I need to know everything I need and how much the parts themselves would cost. If i could also get an estimate on Laber separately, that'd be great.
I plan to SINGLE Turbo it. Thank you to all that respond |

Call Prime Motoring or Pure Automotive.
https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79708 Also be prepared to have a bunch of people tell you to sell your car and buy something else.

Wouldn’t it be less expensive and cooler to just buy a Skyline?

my best guess is about $90-150k all in. likely about $30k in parts, and $60k in labor for starters
fully custom don't come cheap.

LS swaps can range from 10 grand (racecar with no amenities for which you DYI almost everything) to 50+ (streetcar with OEM-like functionality and almost all labour outsourced). I would not expect an RB26 swap to be all that much more expensive. There's bound to be more fabrication, but apart from that the cost should be similar. I do, however, agree with the other post stating an R32 is probably a smarter / cooler buy. |

You'll need to find a shop who can custom fab everything to make it fit, custom exhaust, standalone ECU.
Shops can essentially make up their own price as there is no baseline for doing a swap like this. Adds up fast, gets even more expensive when you want turn key with oem functionality. To give you an idea Kpower has a "affordable" swap kit for K series Honda engines and they're just over 10k for everything needed minus the engine and trans. Plus install labor If you can find a shop to do it. |

in prime motorings awd fr-s thread, he said he's planning on turbo'ing the same build, which is going to raise the difficulty of the entire thing, but hasn't stated any power goals. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...=79708&page=11 but the fact of the matter is that motor swaps like this aren't common because they are both complex and not cheap. so trying to get a price and parts listings as well as labor costs are both extremely specialized, and heavily dependent on what one wants to get out of it. i wouldn't turbo my car as-is without having at least $30k on hand to blow on the build, and this isn't going to be much different. a turn-key full motor build, swap, and tuning is going to cost more-- i wouldn't keep less than $60k on hand for something like that, and if power is the goal, $80-90k isn't unreachable once one starts doing motor bottom end work...

OP doesn’t sound like a DIYer based on the line of questioning. Even kitted swaps require some level of custom work ala clearance trans tunnel or some firewall massaging.

My thoughts exactly, I'd rather just buy a Skyline at that point. If he really wants to maintain the RWD platform, just buy an R32 GTST and put some money into it

If you're worried about cost this swap isn't for you. Better option would be K or JZ swap which both have kits available.
