Yeah the turbocharged 250+ hp rumors never made sense since that would make it too similar to the 2.0 Supra. Also the rumors that it would be on the TNGA platform didn't make sense when this car was always going to use a Subie engine.

The new twins are going to have to be MY 2022 cars. MY 2021 cars will start showing up at the dealer around fall. There is no way a new twin will be out that quickly. We have not even seen any test mule spy shots, let alone a car show debut.

I think they will unveil the new twin in summer 2021 and release it soon after. That would be more inline with the leaked pics of the upcoming Toyota line up.

Test mule was seen last August, everyone on this site just thought it was a 2nd facelift, or a final special edition, but clearly with the reports of the 2nd Gen now using the same/modified chasis thats what it was.

Your timeline is right for release though, orders/production stop June 2020, no yr 21 model, 2nd Gen debuts summer 2021 as a 2022.

Absolutely nothing "clearly" showing it was a second gen mule.

The same place that insisted that based on confirmed and solid leaked info it was using the Toyota platform now say the total opposite but you continue to believe them?

The saddest part of the clickbaits is that since they have now covered almost every single possible scenario as "leaked and confirmed" no matter what happens somebody will be able to go back to one of the stories and say "see they were right".

I like the high redline, wouldn’t worry me if it’s higher. If it is the 2.4L my understanding is, it is a larger bore not stroke. So it should still rev pretty high. But I guess emissions come into it too?

It is.

The question is how will they convert it to NA since it was built to be a turbo?

Oh, and will they use a Toyota port and direct fuel system again?

If they do use the 24 they are going to change it substantially from the current version to manage emissions and mileage.

I imagine it's gonna be similar to what they did with the fa20. Higher compression, and internals not built for boost but for revs. Getting the d4s system would still be welcome. Removes carbon buildup as an issue with di and everyone still gets to take advantage of the power and cooling gains of e85. It wouldn't be unrealistic to see 220whp and 180wtq n/a 86's with the fa24. Just hope weight stays the same.

Let’s hope so. Slightly larger N/A engine that revs high would be nice and a bit more torque too. I’d rather that than the turbo to be honest (turbo = more weight) and yeah hopefully around the same weight. I wish a “real” 2nd gen test mule would show up, so far only that weird face lifted thing with a slightly modded 86 front a BRZ badged rear has been seen.

I follow what ATTR on the MKV forum says and he said that was a mule back in Aug, I didn't believe him then, I now do based on the info that has come out.
