It's mandatory in Quebec for Cegep, unfortunately, the lessons you get from a philosophy course are only as good as the person leading the class. I have seen to many philosophy teachers refuse to acknowledge any other viewpoint/way to perceive things other than theirs. In other words they would fail anyone who didn't share their point of view. And that's unfortunate.

What I said is that you cannot say you can't apply degrees in real life. That translates to a minimum of "there must be at least one degree that you can apply in real life. Admittedly, he made provisions for what he referred to as "the obvious ones." Anyhow, my point is that what I was responding to is far closer to an absolute statement. Especially considering he said "everyone," so, that's 100% not true .

However, I do dig the machamp picture.

I didn't know they had PhD's in physical therapy. What's your research load like?

Thankfully it is not a phD. It is an entry-level doctorate requiring three years post undergrad. The first two are mostly didactic coursework with lab sessions and the last year consists of multiple clinical rotations in different settings. We have a terminal research project due upon graduation but it is nothing like that of a phD.

Yeah, my first two years are about the same.

That's pretty cool, though. And yes. grad school=no life.

Grad schools of all types like philosophy majors. We can solve problems and don't care one bit about ideals, knowing they are all just a load of bull.

Backbreaking. And you really have to massage the profs to get good grades.

I changed about 3 times before I found what I was really good at and enjoyed. Don't give up hope that you will succeed and be patient. Don't know about there but if I was starting over here I would look at the trades. So many people have moved away from them Millwrights and Electricians around here are very, VERY hard to find and can make more money then the Managers in the plant.

This! I went to an automotive school before realising I only like working on my own cars. Fast forward 6 years and I now have two bachelor's, a masters and am starting law school (they were all necessary for my end goal). Keep looking and you will find what's right for you. Too many people settle and regret it their entire lives.

Ironically the only student loans I will have when it is all done is for my automotive degree. I don't regret it though one bit.
