I purchased the 3" CAI to go with my supercharger system. As I'd like to prep as much of the car before I get a shop to install, can I install the 3" CAI prior to my tune or should I wait until after the install and tune of my supercharger?

Chad, you're going to need a tune to run the 3" intake. I'd wait on the install till when you're installing the supercharger, since you're going to have to take the bumper off anyway.

I was going to ask a question about the hp gain differences on the 2.75 and the 3 CAI but found my answers here. http://blog.perrinperformance.com/3-...-dyno-results/
Now my only question is If I run lean with the 3" will it trigger CEL? MY car is 2 months old and as much as I would like a retune after an install I wouldn't like to risk my warranty. (Noobie here)

YES, there is about a 30-40% difference in the MAF tables (between stock and perrin provided for 3"), your fuel trims will go into a range that triggers a CEL.

Ugh. That's a bummer. I would love to get the 3" over the 2.75 and run lean til my warranty is done....

I assume that means you don't currently have a tune? If you do, the maf scale tables are really easy to edit and Perrin provides a new scale that is optimized for the 3" intake (they also have one for the 2.75, but it's not absolutely necessary)

Yes. Everything is stock since I just got the car. So if I just edit the MAF scales it wouldn't affect my warranty? Is there anyway the dealer would know if we flashed our ecu? Sorry for the noob questions. I'm just starting to get more into cars. Thanks btw.

The only way your warranty is 100% safe is if you keep everything stock and never do any trackdays/autocrosses. After that you end up in a grey area where you will need to know about the Magnuson–Moss warranty act and potentially be willing to escalate issues beyond your local dealer to the regional level.

Toyota cannot know if you have tuned your car, but they are able to see the total number of re-flashes on the ECU. OFT allows you to easily go back to stock tune, Ecutek permanently alters the factory programming to add in extra features.

I've talked to the dealership about it. And same as the Manuson-Moss warranty they said they are cool with basic like intake and exhaust and some minor bolt ons as long as it doesn't directly affect what is wrong with the car. I was just not sure about an ecu tune. So will they say anything if they see the number of reflashes? Doesn't the ecu count a reflash when you unplug the battery?

Don't believe so, never checked my flash count for changes after a battery disconnect specifically though. As with all warranty claims, it starts with the dealer service department. Some are open to mods others are not. Once you get into ECU tuning, the dealer service department has some pretty firm ground to deny warranty claims on most powertrain maladies, but again it all comes back to how cool your dealer is.

Would the 3" version be louder than the 2.75" version? I love the sound of the CAI and as with any modification I'm afraid I won't notice much of a difference so this time I'm going to consider going going with the "better" version in hopes of making sure the difference is more noticeaBLE.
