Also isn't the power gain from E-85 a bit safer of a move than an HBP. From what I've read, and correct me if I'm wrong, the HBP is far more likely to cause a rod failure with the big increase in TQ.

Yes, this is what I heard too. E85 gives good gains while maintaining safe power levels, HBP gives huge gains at the risk of grenading stock transmissions and engines.

Well that was a really nice read, thanks for that. As I'm shopping for the C38 kit, that's good to know!

Not sure if its just a product of the kit your running but that curve looks like poop..

Hopefully any revisions he makes smooths that out.

The torque dip around 3,500 felt like absolute shit. If I upshifted and ended up in that range it felt dead in the water. No idea what he did to correct it but it feels great now, and my torque starts hitting hard at 3,800ish. Not a product of the JDL kit at all, my prior e-tune didn't exhibit the behaviors....nor does it right now fortunately. We were renting a dyno and it was a bit rushed to finish in time so what you see above is where he stopped at. All is well that ends well though, I should have an updated graph in a few months once I finish things off.

Custom gtx3076 kit - currently on 93 octane and limited to <10psi (still on stock clutch).
Kit was seeing close to 400whp with E85 on another car.

It was also dialed back a bit for safety as this is a track car:
