That would be the Diablo Dam, damming up Diablo Lake (part of the Skagit River) in the North Cascades National Park in Washington.

It's on the North Cascades Loop, a scenic drive, about 100 miles North of where I live.

Yep, it's perty country -

What I was thinking too. Diablo Dam just below Ross Dam on Hwy 20.
It's on the west side of Rainy Pass, but Hwy 20 is still closed right now due to a fire on the east side.

Ooh! Paul Bunyans' Stump

I've driven the North Cascades Hwy in a Supra TT. It's one of the best seasonal scenic sports car roads in the US with smooth pavement, glaciers and turquois lakes. This would be a perfect time to go with Hwy 20 blocked at the east end limiting traffic.

The narrow dam road has traffic control lights at both ends.

From memory, take I5 to 530 to 20. If a day drive, do the I-5 leg before sunrise then the rest in daylight. Carnivores even bigger than you live there and can be aggressive like the griz that killed a woman camper ten days ago so pack "repellent".

With those guys, I think I'd carry my "repellent" in a 454 Casull package.

Just not this weekend.
Or next weekend.
Or the weekend after that.

Watching my grandpa's funeral right now. A military color guard came to salute and give their honors as well as drape an American flag. Glad that this is still something that happens, even for someone who served many decades ago.

Sorry for your loss. Glad you could make it to his funeral.

The veteran's family will also receive a Presidential Memorial Certificate signed by the current President.

Thank you. I actually had to watch it on a Zoom that my brother set up :\. I'm home with a still pretty young puppy, so couldn't make the trip for it.

Yeah, the person in charge of the color guard (don't know his rank) said something along those lines, though it was a bit difficult to hear.

I can't recall exactly how many awards my grandpa earned, but he did have 5 Bronze Stars.

Understandable about your puppy. Glad your brother could have you there virtually.

One Bronze Star is incredible. Five is epic. What a hero he must have been.

Ended up grabbing an '19 R3 with 108miles on it.

Hope to pick her up this weekend pending the agreed on new wheel and tires (front was curbed on the lip) and a fuel pump tsb they are doing on it before delivery.

I was pretty sure I was going to grab a MT-07 but after being ****ed around by the dealer, I just hung up called another dealer and went with the original plan. Guess that works better as I'm not starting on a $9k OTD bike.

I will say the add on crap is hilarious. The original dealer wanted to include a non-optional LIFETIME BATTERY charger for $499 for brand new bike! The cost of 8 batteries!

I really wish I could find my old MFS rider'd course card. Not that a refresher wouldn't do me good. I'm just itching to go.
