Same here!

My impressions were that the current smallest pulley available by Vortech, which I think is 12psi, is the max.

Just inquiring, and I could have definitely read that wrong (read: I'm not a mechanic and don't know much if anything about this stuff). If this kit can handle 20psi then that would be great. My dillemma is that I want a F/I kit that comes ~250 whp stock, but with the ability to push past that if needed (maybe 300-350whp with possibly e85). Right now its mostly a waiting game to see if this is possible, but I'd like to hear more about the upper limits of this system

Thanks guys, this system is looking great so far. Definitely impressed with Vortech's customer service & the results I've seen so far.

Just because the smallest pulley Vortech makes will do 12psi, doesn't mean you can't make a smaller one.

If the map is any indication of the max revs of this unit, it can spin to 55k rpm. How long the bearings can continuously be spun to that rpm is a different question.

Another possible limiting factor to making the theoretical maximum power is pressure drop in the system. Even if the supercharger unit itself is working at a given pressure ratio of 2.35, you may not be seeing that 20psi of boost in the intake manifold. In that case, the supercharger would be consuming the power required for it to produce that pressure ratio but the engine wouldn't actually be seeing that pressure. Therefore, you wouldn't see the power you were expecting. You would then need to find the restriction(s) and get rid of it/them if you are looking to max out the system. Keep in mind the law of diminishing returns though...it could require a lot of R&D and upgraded parts to eliminate all the restrictions and ultimately not be worth the trouble for a few extra ponies. I'm sure someone will find a way though...people always want more.

Just remember, Vortech designed their system to improve performance, meet emissions and be relatively safe and reliable. Pushing the envelope beyond their intended design will involve extra cost and risk of failure.

With the engine oil fed unit 400-500 is obtainable on E85. Close to 400WHP has been had on E85 without over-spinning the self-oiled unit.

Sorry about adding some obvious stuff:
clutch
cooling mods: new radiator, oil cooler
catch can
engine mounts + tranny support & bushings
gauges incl wideband if possible
axles (according to some folks but not me so far)

Lastly you might be surprised about the wheelspin even on sticky tires. With 255 or 265mm at the most without rolling the fenders, 1st gear is very Dukes of Hazzard.

With good tuner 3.00" pulley might work, this is an 8 RIB though. But @evo4g63 is spot on. 3.00 could possibly tap roughly 380-410WHP on a dynojet with a good tune and a nice free flowing exhaust. if you want more power 2.87 can work but is pushing the blower past its limits and you may want to consider doing the race upgrade (engine oil fed) to sustain the 2.87 or go even lower. A number of users however have been using the 2.87 for a period of time and I don't know if anyone has had any issues as of yet. @Brian@Vortech would have to fill us in on that subject if anyone has damaged one from over spinning it with that pulley yet.

@kiichiro or anyone else do you have a wastegate setup?

I am tempted to go oil-fed and 2.6" but would like to have some control over boost at different revs & in different conditions.

the "new" setup has been the only setup. There are however two setups. A standard and a race version. The race version uses oil fed from the engine and can rev higher than the standard unit. The standard unit will probably work for 98% of people as it his quite a bit of overhead on it. Upwards of 400WHP on E85 can be achieved with the standard unit. However OFT currently doesn't support non MAF based tuning so there is a tuning limitation. This post is about vortech switching the actual blower as the original unit was different on the original release. I don't know of anyone that has had the original unit as they offered to replace anyone who had the original with the new one.
