+1. I was running ~10lbs and my transmission was already chipping teeth against the snap ring.

No burn outs, granny shifting and only boosted pulls, but still was chipping the teeth.

Yep, shift smoothly and apply the power through the transmission gradually.

And that don't cost nutten.

Sounds like a plan :P the car stokc really doesn't have any crazy power so as it is, I won't be dumping the clutch or smashing on it 😁

Was looking into e85 and headers, but if you go e85 do you have to change any gaskets or seals in the engine?

I would not worry about it until you need to.

I bought the car from a guy, he already had indy 500 Firestone firehawks, are those slick enough to do me in?

No. Firehawks are street tires, not slicks.

Nope, just get an e85 kit and tune (Delicious Tuning for example) and you are good to go.

Going above 400hp you are probably looking at helical synchromesh or straight cut gearset and carbon fiber syncro rebuild. At this point it's going to be cheaper to do a t56 or cd009 swap.
Do you know of any FA20 to t56 adapters? How would one go about putting on into an frs? Is it all custom work?

Anytime you buy used you're inheriting his bad habits and shifting mismanagement is at the top of the list.

No but it only had 53000 on it. In comparison the cd009 I replaced it with has 108,000. I have way more confidence that I'm not going to break it, even with twice the mileage.

There is a whole thread here with plenty of broken transmission in it.

You decide.

that whole e85 might not be compatable is for older cars. and what sort of rubber they use.

modern cars dont have that issue. the bigger issue is fuel pump capacity and injectors.

I have Bridgestone RE003, branded Indy 500 in the US, they are only a OK summer tyre, Hankook RS4 are my usual pick, RS4 are much better than the RE003 in the dry, but RS4 are very average in the wet.

The RS4's, whilst still a street tyre, are excellent bang for buck IRT dry grip, RS4's lasted around 20k km of street driving.

I went the RE003's because the kids have been borrowing the car, compromises were made IRT wet weather grip.

From my experience the only gearboxes I have seen lunch themselves have all had uprated clutches, not saying this is the only reason though.

My decision is 90% of trans issues are a driver issue and\or too much power for a stock unit..

Isn’t that exactly what everyone is agreeing/saying?
Isn’t this thread originally started to counter or inquire about the latter issue.
Don’t think anyone is saying stock tranny cant handle bolt ons or low boost.

Its what is the solution to a reliable transmission at moderate boost/power levels. Or at what power level is it an issues worth addressing and resolving, and then what is the solution?
