zero contractors. and she's leaving it mostly to her husband, some other family, but we've all got stuffs to do outside of help them... she has no interest in the demo/build phase, just the painting/finishing materials phase... i'm trying to get her interested in running the circular saw to cut new studs to length, no luck.

tonight, she started talking about removing walls to make the living room "more open"... she talks about removing walls like others delete spam emails. she also tried walking me around the house indicating which switches she wanted moved from one spot to another for no reason other than a whim(i don't think she understands yet that if i move a switch for her, i'm cutting the wall open stud-to-stud).

it doesn't help that his dad is a hardcore DIY guy that every project is "no problem" and "easy". he constantly reminds me of an old coworker who would whistle every step. "oh, you see, you just need to run the wire from {whistle} to {whistle} and then {whistle} that to {whistle} there, and you're done! easy peasy!" it never mattered that he was pointing to things on opposite sides of a cluttered 5,000 sq ft warehouse.

the house has 2 bathrooms. i keep telling them to just fully finish whatever bedroom they want to make the master, and sort the rest of it out after they move in--that would be just paint, maybe some trim and a light fixture or two. they're currently living about 30 minutes away, and his job is a 1-1.5 hr commute every day, so the time they have to work is pretty minimal. but they're currently dead-set on performing all of this work to the entire house before moving in...

Somewhat amusingly, the issues many people are complaining about with ft86 speed factory that I commented about not having, I'm currently having with carid. Parts were ordered as in stock with same day shipping on October 11, just got an email for the third delay, to November 1. Seeing as how most sites have the estimated delivery date of the seat I ordered as late November, I asked if they can just provide an accurate ship date. I don't mind waiting, but am tired of promised dates followed by delay emails 2 days after the items were scheduled to ship.

That sounds like a 6 month project with a crew. Or a divorce waiting to strike...

I know what I got done in the three week window we left, and it wasn't much. We hired work out too...
