Unhappy cricket noises

Ok so I've had my 2014 FR-S for just a couple of months now, the car had 40k miles on it when I bought it. Having the car for just a short amount of time I've noticed a few different problems with the car, from reading on forums to experiencing some of the problems myself.

I know that cricket noises from the motor isn't an uncommon problem with the FR-S and the BRZ, but mine seems to be coming from the passenger side front tire. Has anyone experienced this same issue? Or has it already been narrowed down for sure that the fuel pump is the culprit in this case?

PLEASE HELP!!!

Fuel pump is on driver side right beside the tire so it might not be fuel pump related. I'd check your lug nuts on that left side right away first just to be safe.
I've already had a "mechanic" twice leave them not tightened. Sounds like a brake or suspension issue though. Is it audible when the car is not moving?
Crickets are noticeable when the car is sitting still especially easy to hear when in a garage or a drive-thru where the noise echoes off a wall back to you.

Thank you for responding, and that puts my mind at east knowing its not on the driver side. I haven't checked my tires yet but I will the first chance I get. Mostly its when the car is in motion, not at a stand still.

Sometimes a clicking noise can be caused by a rock in the tire. Will tick every time the rock hits the ground. I'd check that too!

I haven't throughly checked my tire, but its not a clicking sound, it's a loud chirp.

Sounds like a stone or something in brake calliper. When it is happening put both windows Dow to narrow where it is as sometimes hard to tell. See if it comes back or disappears when applying brakes.

That sounds a little more plausible, as the sound seems to come from the passenger side.

Do we have thickness sensors on OEM pads? My mechanic told me that my brake squeal isn't from the wear indicator because we don't have one.

Here's a pic of the OEM pads I took off, you can see the wear indicators, might want to get a new mechanic! :P

Dude, thank you so much for that! I was starting to worry that it might be a motor issue.

Just a little information for everyone on this thread, and to others who might possibly join this thread in a future date.

After changing my break pads, I still have the same issue with the cricket noise only coming from my passenger front tire. After driving for a few hours and the problem still occurring, I took it to pep boys and they did a free break inspection. It turns out that my rotors are pretty worn down and they are recommending replacing them soon.

I know they were not trying to just sell me on them, because even the manager told me, "You don't have to buy them from us or have them installed here, just do it soon so the problem won't continue."

I will have them changed in the following week or two to come so I will keep you posted on the problem.

Thanks to everyone who has pitched their ideas with this issue, very much appreciated!

Good luck and hope you find a solution, but when you replaced the pads did you turn the
rotors to make them smooth again? Usually you can do that instead of replacing them.

I did not have the mechanic do that, but I'm having my rotors inspected tomorrow just to be safe. Thank you for that information though, it will certainly help in the future!
