STX Rules and Setup Questions

You can't measure ride height to the ground. Then you factor in tire size or even tire pressure and change the number. The only true way to measure ride height is fender to center of hub. That takes out the variable of tire size/pressure and then can actually be compared from car to car.

This right here. A spare axle is easy to carry around, easy to swap, and isn't cost prohibitive.

I know that from my time with lifted rock crawlers but nobody provided any kind of real numbers for what they're running hub to fender so I went with these numbers...none of it is permanent, my chassis tuning is ever evolving...

So after raising the ride height I'm getting some weird creaking/low-medium pitch clunking from my drivers front. Didn't move the camber plate, literally only the spring seat.
Could that just be inherent noise from the extra spring preload?

I'm in the same sort of ballpark with mine too. I definitely don't feel a need to go lower yet (if ever).

Most of the fast people at crow's were lower than my car, but most of them also showed up on trailers. They're fast because of driving, though, not ride height (presumably).

Our cars @tigermack and @xtremeyolks are street driven. We only use our trailers for national events since we are bringing spare parts and wheels.

Mack and I drove to the tour. We towed for the pro because we were scared of axles breaking.

Karlton towed both weekends so all of us can stay away from the sun.

Well fair enough then.

Props to you guys for driving on the shitass SF roads at those heights.

With all the shit in my trunk I think my car may have been as low lol.

Super duper impressed with all y'all's driving -- really happy I decided to go the STX route and it's always so awesome to see what 'nationals fast' looks like in person.

Question New ride height question for STX

What about fender clearance above the tires? Does anyone have a good measurement of this dimension for a competitive car at rest?

Some STX cars are slammed down on coilover's with zero clearance. My twin has ~ 1" of clearance between the tires and bottom of the fenders, front and rear. DP

I'm somewhere a little over an inch, my car should be competitive nationally with some minor changes. I'm already fairly close to the local guys that do well at nationals.

On another topic, the front swaybar made a HUGE difference for me. I can drive much more how I like now, the car doesn't step out every time I touch the throttle and it's way faster. I was tempted to start dropping tire pressures and playing with damping to get a little more front grip, haha. I'm VERY happy with the car now.

I got a killer deal on a Strano bar so I tossed it on the car today. Will see what I think tomorrow. 4 AutoX events I in the next 15 days, should be fun.
