traffic is not too bad right now...

1.5 hrs from Milpitas to Fairfield via Calaveras vs. almost 2 hrs if we take the traditional 680 route...
(and there is traffic in Calaveras too) lol

finger crossed ETA for departure is 1 hr.

Just checked in to motel 6. There's a blue BRZ here already on PF01's, who's that?

yeah I just did it yesterday and I'm already itching to go back! haha

another fun track day with the NorCal86 crew ... thanks @mkivsoopra for saving me a parking spot. Although it was hot, we were having so much fun out there on the track and it was overall good times. I did not gain any faster laps this time around (so many factors/excuses to blame haha) but continued to learn. Thanks to @ddeflyer for the tire pressures help, I was experiencing a lot of understeer in the morning and the last few sessions I was able to dial in the pressures to get it feeling a lot better by day's end.

Congrats to @RehabJeff86 for the super fast laps, once again taking top times of the day in 86CUP ... can't believe he's NA and on stock suspension
Heaven help us now that he and David are both starting to get comfy with TRAC OFF.

for a few photos from the track, visit/follow 86DRIVE on instagram.

Yeah, turning off the traction control was a huge improvement for me. I feel the car so much more, both through the steering wheel and through the seat. That and it is so much easier to enter a slip angle. Also I think I am using the camber on my wheels more now; the temperature distribution across my wheels is quite a bit better now. I wasn't even hitting traction control that much but the difference is huge!

My first track day(s), I had a blast. I can't wait to make it out to more events. Nice to meet more Norcal 86 people. What a great community we have.

For those that met me, this is Daniel. Mr. got a ticket on I-5. I struggled all day Sunday with turn 5. Managed to stay on the track, and get home in one piece. VSC Sport only needed to save my ass once.

Glad you had a good time and made it home safe @unsurety. As I think I was trying to say last night at dinner (in a fairly convoluted way), better to go home in your car, thinking you might have been able to go a little faster, than to go home riding in someone else's car, wishing you had gone a little slower.

One of my better laps, not good enough to improve on the last time though.

A couple of quick (possibly unwelcome) notes on your lap.

Be careful of little steering inputs part way through your turns. I see that on some turns (like turn 1) that you are giving a small increase in steering lock. This upsets the car and keeps you from going as fast.

Try doing more throttle steering on turn 2 and less steering wheel steering. It is a great skill to have and should make it easier to start pushing the ass end of the car out to increase your speed on exit as you start to have less control with the steering wheel when doing that.

You are pinching turn 9, try watching @orthojoe's video or some other video of fast race laps, as it allows for alot more speed. I think I've done that turn at 70Mph, but the time I think I did that I didn't have logging yet so I am not 100% sure (and I haven't had the guts and braking control to do it a second time at that speed; it gets a little "exciting").

Have you tried going to second for 11?

Watch the inside berm on 15!
