"krrrnnnkkk" noise when the differential locks up?

HI guys, whenever I make a hard turn and the differential locks up I guess to divert the torque to the o the r wheel, it makes a KRRRRRNNNNNKKKTTTTT noise.

I was wondering if that was normal?

Not on my stock differential, does this happen with the traction and stability control on? Could possibly be electronic brake force distribution kicking in and independently braking the inner wheel to the corner

you sure it's not traction control kicking in and braking one wheel? lol

Feel it, or hear it? For sharp turns at low speed, a little rumble in the butt is normal but get it checked if you actually hear anything.

Wait, how fast are you going? @Aztec has a point.

It's probably traction control. (I've never driven a car with traction control or with that many features tbh).

When I first started driving mine, I found a big empty parking lot and experimented with the TC/VSC. It's worth getting to know how it responds, as well as how the car behaves when they're disabled.

It's a nice predictable RWD vehicle. If the nannies are kicking in on public roads, you're likely driving way outside the safe zone. Take it back a notch.

Thanks, I appreciate all the help. Y'all the best.

I just did a few trial runs on the way from the grocery store in this rainy weather, and the ABS (I had to put the window down and really tune in to found out it wasn't the diff) kicks in when the tail should slid out and at the point where I should be countersteering. Obviously, I didn't counter steer since the ABS redirected the car for me.

I have done inertial drift when you only need a little bit of counter steering and where the weight is evenly distributed. I think the key is keep the weight evenly distributed to not make the ABS kick in (or pull the fuse out).

Personally, I find the nannies quite annoying. ABS is a different thing altogether. You're talking about VSC - Vehicle Stability Control. Look for the Pedal Dance thread for more info but in summary:

Engine must be at normal operating temperature. Even a little cool will lock out the mode.

Within 30 seconds of starting the engine

1. pull handbrake 3 times and hold
2. push brake pedal 3 times and hold
3. repeat step 1
4. push brake pedal twice

This cuts all the vehicle stability functions except ABS.

Nope, it's not really the ABS but rather a function derived from it called EBF as I said in my first post called Electronic brake force distribution, to disable it you simply do the Pedal Dance as someone else said. It will disable the EBF, all traction control, as well as the panic braking function, the only thing that will be on is ABS so you don't go full lock braking into a pole.
