I'm having a bad day. I haven't shared this, but I haven't seen or heard from my daughter in over 3 years. Feels awful. My other kids say it isn't my faullt, but sometimes that doesn't help the pain.

That totally sucks. There are just so many difficult things that can happen to a kid, that a kid can do, that parents cannot control.

My daughter has a three phrase vocabulary: "Go away!", "Leave me alone!", and "I don't know." We're actively trying to teach her more words.

Brings to mind the time I commanded a BCT (Basic Combat Training) Company at Fort Ord, CA.

The company had 212 enlisted trainees and 15 drill sergeants. Sometimes I would feel bad for the trainees and then again sometimes I would get so cracked up over the drill sergeants screaming lines of harassment, I would crack up and have to walk away to compose myself.

my oldest son is moving to Colorado. We were going thru the stuff of his in my safe. My son did 2_tours as an advanced sniper. One of his prized possessions is a photo of his graduating advanced sniper class. Less than half of the 20 guys are still around. People are forgetting that kids are still dying, giving their lives for our way of life.
