Haha, great point!
Where (state, city) do they do those measurements?
Any locals who already own a 2022?

I believe they do the measuring/testing at their South Bend, Indiana location. It was somewhere like that back when they did the measuring for the first gen.

Tire fitment issues in the rear

Eh, tire rack is so conservative with offsets they won’t recommend anything more than a few 5mm away from stock in my experience. The offset on a set of OZs they recommended for my Audi were actually 2mm less aggressive than stock.

Looks like they're using a ~10 mm spacer in the front only to get ~40 effective offset:

Key timestamps: specs at 3:00, close-ups at 0:55 and 1:40; rear brakes (no spacer) at 1:09, front brakes (spacer) at 1:11 and 1:38.
That's pretty frustrating, needing to run a lower offset (wheel further out) up front than the rear.

Not really a big deal, it's super easy to run spacers up front and just have wheels with the same offset all around. Not as easy since now you need extended studs but there are kits to get it all at once.

They could also be trying to equalize track width front and rear. Stock, the front is a little over an inch narrower than the rear.

If that's the case, that's fine.

I agree it's not a huge deal, just have to get hub centric spacers. I didn't like the ideal of a wider front track width, but another poster mentioned the front is narrower.

Yep, you beat me to it. It's going to take companies like CSG and the like to get it really dialed in. Which is why, since I don't need a car at the moment, I may try to stay patient for the '23 BRZ.

Still a bummer that they would give less room out back for a wheel/tire combo than the 1st gen.

Looks like 255/35R18 tires on 18x9.5 et45's can be squeezed in, with a bunch of camber. Might be the most aggressive fitment (wrt the outside of the tire) that still works:

*snip*
I wonder how much camber that is? When it's pulling out of the pits, it almost looks like there is more camber out back than up front, which is typically the opposite of how you want things to be.

I'm curious to see how much room can be gained with just a roll, not a roll and pull. Of course, even with just a roll you can risk cracking the paint.

Those wheels look really nice, and just about perfect offset in relation to the fenders. Could maybe go a little wider with the rubber to reduce the chance of curb rash.

I think with something less wide than the Yokohamas A052's, you could run this setup on stock camber in the back. My 255/40/17 Yoks are pinched pretty good on the 9" wheels.

Maybe just a couple of mm more than I'd want to.
The perfect flush fitment of the wheel at ride height sure looks nice, but isn't necessarily the best option when the suspension can move.
As highlighted in other pics on this thread, there's a badly placed bump in the fender liner that the tire needs to avoid when the suspension is compressed.

Yup, looks like too much rear camber for the track indeed. But not enough to be qualified as stance yet, I guess.
