Any problems with voice recognition and sat phone reception?
A potential Nav System issue has already been brought up in discussion so I will not elaborate upon the Nav System glitch except to remark that I have noted it too. Maybe less problematic week 2 then week 1, but I will report it to SOA as suggested.
As for Satellite Radio, I am finding frequent signal loss. I suspect it is likely due to the antennae or antennae placement. I had a sat radio on my last car and there were 2 places approaching my house where the signal on my old unit would regularly drop out just momentarily, but the BRZ radio is much more sensitive and I lose signal frequently during the last 1/2 mile. I almost never lost signal driving around town with the old radio....but this unit drops signal in multiple places out and about. Voice recognition also seems to be a problem for me. Blue tooth in general functions okay with my iphone 4, but voice recognition for contact names is awful...batting zero in over thirty tries even at the dealer. I have found that speaking a numeric phone number is better, but I was hoping for the safety of true hands free op. My dealer checked and wrote: "From what I understand the navigation unit that the BRZ's and the Imprzas use are set up a little different than the hands fee systems in the Legacy and Outback. They are more geared toward being able to have easier use uploading the newer phones like your iphone, more features such as the key pad for dialing numbers, and ease of finding contacts in your phone book. Such as the arrows to scroll down through the alphabet to find people. The one problem with the system as you already know is that the voice commands and voice recognition are lacking. Our Outbacks and Legacy's have a more refined system for the voice commands. That is probably not the answer you were hoping for but that is ina nut shell the answer I was given." I responded that voice recognition is advertised as a feature, and that reasonable VR - not 100% but not zero - is expected in 2013. Service manager suggests next step is to call SOA and register these issues to get a case # to continue further discussion. I will do this today. I am curious about other people's experiences. Has anyone else found this difficulty? But, lest we forget...as for the car, pure driving enjoyment. Bill Last edited by WMS; 06-25-2012 at 04:35 PM. Reason: missed word |
