This is the coldest day of the week for us, as the rest will be in the 60-70 range, so I'll run it out and put 93 in for the winter.
use waynos tables they are much better and from memory less fuel added aroud 40f, i have never had the poping, but like kodename47 said its nothing to be worried about unless its does it on throttle application.

some guys on petrol have also reported the occasional pop on startup in cold weather

Took at least 2 cranks to start it when 60-70 degrees.

If it doesn't start after taking some ign and maf adjustment out and increasing cranking, then hit the start button once with the throttle pedal on the floor, then once normally.

Starting your car on ethanol is cold temps is going to be tough no matter how much fuel you add. It is not the amount of fuel that is added, it is making sure the ethanol vaporizes before combustion/spark.

The problem with ethanol (e85) is it will not vaporize below about 50 degrees. Because of this it will not ignite, causing you to try and start the car multiple times. This will continue to happen in order to get the cylinders temps high enough so when the cold ethanol enters the chamber it then vaporizes easily.

Basically you need to warm the fuel to have a fighting chance of starting the car.

Cheers,
William Knose

Have been using @Waynos cranking tables here in the WI mornings and has been firing right up so far. This weekend will be a nice test as it is going to get into the low 20's for a few days.

In regards to cold starts and first time using Ethanol, would intentionally leaving an extra gallon or so from gas light be a bad idea since the ecu is getting used to e% in general? I ask because it's been in the low 50's where I live and don't want to have cold start problems until I can add some petrol to taper e%. Idk exactly what percentage of E the pump has this is a pic of it helps determine anything Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1446447577.127944.jpg

Shiv said the tune is good for between about 60% and 90% ethanol. if your fuel is guaranteed e85% then no problems adding a gallon or so of petrol to a full tank for easier start. Also you cam modify the cranking IP W tables in tune for better starting in cold weather as well ,do both of those and you should be good down to near freezing temps

Awesome! Any other tips/advice for someone first trying E85? Aside from the tips already mentioned in the "How to Run E85" thread?

Car has intake that's scaled to 91, full UEL header back exhaust, Power Blocks and other misc. mods.

if its a stock intake then probably copy wayno s e85 maf scaling from one of his e85 tunes

if its an aftermarket intake then copy across your current scaling then check the fuel trims and afr, it might need a re-touch up.

copy waynos e85 cranking table values as well they are the best available especially for high e content e85
