Anyone know a tuner in Houston that's worked on our platform for 3+ years? I really don't want to invest $1K+ in a locked, non-resellable tune for a car I may trade in on a gen 2 in two years...In most cases, stock condition cars bring more money, and custom tunes are a lost when I re-flash to stock, correct?
I build for now, not later.

I'm happy spend money on good tuning, I spend less on good tuning than some people spend on ICE or some other pointless thing like body kits or huge wheels.

Do you want performance, or, the illusion of performance?

If I wanted a much more powerful car, I'd have bought one

I've learned a bit more. Gotten some positive responses from fellow Texans on inspection, so I've ordered a Gruppe S UEL catless header, due in late next month. Now just need to choose a good base tune. I can live with minimal peak gains, as long as I get improved delivery...The Nameless 5" muffled 2.5" axleback on the car may be too loud with the new catless header. Suggestions on "Q" type axleback or catback? I like a deep, non raspy tone, just not much louder than the Nameless. I've heard one or two clips of the stock muffler w catless UEL...anyone run that setup? Not a big fan of "pull me over" loud...Anyone run a Xero Limit tune lately?

I like the build quality and catless UEL sound samples of the Perrin 2.5 resonated. Tips look right to me as well. I'm having trouble finding good Gruppe S/Nameless set up clips to sample. It's hard to gauge loudness from sound clips, but if this is what a UEL header sounds like with a catted header, the Nameless may be too loud for me on a street car:

Wonder how much I could expect to recoup on the Nameless with <2K miles on it? Houston is a good local market for used parts. I'm able to avoid shipping on larger pieces...Good as the Perrin sounds, I'd prefer not to sink another $1K into the new exhaust, if I don't have to...Is there a resonated mid pipe that could tame down the Nameless to sound more like the Perrin? Nameless revs with catless UEL:

This mid pipe would be close to a wash, factoring in selling the Nameless for the full Perrin catback. https://www.ft86speedfactory.com/gre...l#.XsAAPmhKhPY

The nameless axleback and catback setups are fairly loud with a catless header. Most catbacks or going to be loud with a catless header. The Perrin 2.5 resonated may not be too bad, the CSG MXP like mentioned above handles a catless header well, as does the Invidia Q300.

But your buying "performance" parts that will give minimal gains, for more money that a good tune would cost, which, would give you more power?????

Meh, at least you might end up with some brand name stickers to make up for the lack of real performance, oh, and the inefficiency of a UEL header, so there's that as well.

Enjoy

If so, why?
Edit: The FT86speedfactory catted options seem to tick some boxes, especially if if catless will likely have noise/rasp/inspection issues. Anyone have coating preference "black" vs "tungsten" (or is the difference cosmetic only?). I've watched the "Everyday Driver" linked video (again), which gives results/opinions, with no tune (I like the tone, but maybe a bit quieter...Perrin over their V1?). Would a V4 OFT/OTS tune play nice with my MY 20 with these parts? Had to fill out an email form to request a call back from them, and their catless headers are listed as "backordered". Will report results after someone calls me back.
I just installed the FT86speedfactory header a few weeks ago on my '17 with OFT Stage 2 tune. The difference is amazing, especially in regards to the torque dip. I've not had a dyno, but from driving it feels like the dip is gone. The headers are made to order, hence "backorder". Mine took ~4 weeks to build/coat before they shipped. I also have an Invidia overpipe/front pipe and Perrin exhaust. The combo is not too loud and sounds amazing.

I am gettin a tune, with data log review/revision, just no dyno time. Probably going Delicious or Xero Limit.

Did you go catted or uncatted?

So you replaced the front pipe too? Looking at potentially doing this one my '17 but not looking to add an exhaust to keep it quiet. Curious if the aftermarket header is needed at all, or if you could just go stage 2 OFT with the stock header.

Why are you so obsessed with running the stg 2 OTS tune on a car with stock exhaust? Just run the tune that is designed for a stock header.

Not so much obsessed with it, as wanted to understand if I need to spend the $1000+ to do so, as it's not clear whether the facelift header eliminates the need for it.
