#37) 1962 Chrysler Newport Sedan (MAR15-)
OK, I took a little bit of artistic license with this one. The ever-changing plan is currently to rebuild the original engine and transmission, add airbag suspension and some cool red-anodized wheels and leave everything else just as it is. I bought this from a neighbor who was using it for a daily driver. The car was originally purchased within his family and has only accumulated 65,000 miles. It sat unused for decades, which explains the dull finish on the paint, but the interior, chrome and glass is all in excellent shape. Can't wait to get her done!

How do you find out about the insurance auctions? I would love to get a drift slut, miata or 240, as the frs is too nice to trash. Btw, very entertaining thread!

Haha, how do you find out about anything you don't know about? Google!

Keep in mind, I bought those cars at the insurance auction back in the early 2000's. That was before the drifting craze drove up RWD demand, and before China's building explosion drove scrap metal prices through the roof. Today, it's several hundred dollars just to buy a non-running car because scrap value is so much higher.

You don't need to go to insurance auction to find a haggard miata or 240 -- just go visit craigslist. Plenty of beat-to-shit candidates.

This was totally enjoyable to read start to finish. Got anything new in the past few months?

Nope... still rocking the Isuzu, GMC and Chrysler... but I'm getting closer to getting something new... if only I could decide on what it would be. Might get a newish Durango R/T or Grand Cherokee with the 5.7L Hemi to replace the van... and I would love to get another convertible, but I just don't think I can part with my Isuzu... it's just too great of a rig!

That's awesome - you sure don't discriminate with cars! Maybe try a German car or a Miata next?

My first two cars were German and I have feared them ever since. Over the years I eyeballed a Mercedes SLK55 and SL55... would love an M Roadster or M3 convertible... even thought about a Toureg for a bit... but ultimately I just couldn't ever commit because I was afraid of repair costs.

Miata... I dunno about that.
