Looks like a Twin managed to raw time him and pax him the event before:

The guy in the WRX looks to be a good driver, but does not seem to have an overdog of a car.

Put a CS 86 against the WRX in DS and it will get destroyed, which was my point.

Obviously he had a very good day on the link I posted. Also, to be fair, his video from the run on the link you posted had a HUGE slide where he easily lost half a second, so...

I just looked at 2015 nats results and it looks like CS FRS managed to go faster than a 2015 WRX. (On the side where they both got dry runs)

Of course, that's probably a TRD FRS.

Nationals isn't always very representative of locals or even more regional competition though. Bigger course, way different surface, etc.

I'm expecting the ND to be faster than the 86 in CS, even at nationals and having to shift more often... but the ND is going to be absurd at smaller courses when it's not on the limiter in 2nd constantly.

It really sucks, but I don't see how CS can be "fair" for ND owners or 86 owners as it is. Maybe the 2017 model will change that.

At College Station National Tour a CS FR-S beat the top DS WRX by more than 2.5 seconds. An FR-S also beat the top DS WRX in the prior two National Tour events as well. I think National Tour and the National events are more likely to be taken into account by the SCCA than local events as far as classing is concerned. Let's not talk about the ND's though as their top drivers are in BS trophy territory from the last two or three National Tour events from what I can see. If you find your local events to have courses that favor a particular car over and over I would see if you could volunteer to help design a course that may be a little different than normal.

If all the proposed changes take place the landscape of Street class autocross will be changed insanely. While BRZ owners may complain, I could definitely see the landing place for all twins (trunk kit FR-S included) as being D Street if C Street ends up with the ND Miata and the 986 Boxter S.

In the grand scale we have the FR-S that has access to some lowering springs and an additional sway bar. The 2017 BR-Z will get Brembos (potentially lighter), better gearing, and an extra half inch of wheel width. Those type of small model differences are pretty in line with the spirit of Street class where there will always be desirable trim levels.

I'm glad I'm in STX, is all I can say about the current mess in street classes.

fwiw, the Texas Tour courses were both mid-50's speed maintenance courses which were right up
the ND's alley. Plus Daniel is an excellent driver.

My tires picked this weekend to heat cycle out otherwise I would have been a lot closer...

We'll see what happens at Nationals this year. DS sounds like fun!

I see Andy Hollis is registered in an ND for Nationals. I would place my bets on an ND winning CS.

Not really that bold of a prediction there...although the winner is not going to be Hollis. Garfield, or McCelvey all the way.

I'm pulling for McCelvey since he was my announcing partner last year. Great guy and amazing baritone voice.
