Power wire for low beams on 10 series?
Im installing the led drl fog lights on my car and i have to tap a blue wire into the power wire of the low beams of my headlights so that the leds dim with the headlights on. As you know the 10 series come stock with hids so im having trouble locating where and which is the power wire. Do hids even have a power wire? I know on regular lights theres a red power wire and a black ground wire but i cant seem to find that with the hid lights. I uploaded a pic to show you what im looking at.

Is it that gray plug with all the wires sticking out of it? Or is that for the drls?

While you're all up in that wiring, might as well install the LED enabler - then you can tap the mod's wire, instead of the factory wire! http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...61&postcount=1 |

i think ill leave the led enabler mod alone since I'm gonna have the led fog lights on with the low beams anyway. |

http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/c.../category/622/ I got mine pre-made by a member on this forum, before he stopped making them. It required de-pinning the harness and wrapping two wires (only frustrating part was stuffing the wrapped wires back into the harness plug). Good luck! |

It is kinda hard to tell - looking at picture "3" I believe the brown wire leading to the top right plug is the #5 wire we want. Once you plug it in, it should be simple to figure out which one is the #5.

Yes, you can definitely de-pin the Diode Dynamics plug (specifically, the side that plugs into the back of the headlight). Pretend you want to plug the module into your face, you should be able to take a pick/thin flathead screwdriver and depress the plastic "tongue" that holds each pin in place - then simultaneously push the pin out.
I'm pretty sure whatever wire they connect to the #5 position will have low-beam power, but it'll probably be a good idea to check with Diode Dynamics. |

i had better luck with the beat sonic module than with the diode dynamics
sure its $20 more, but that $20 WILL save u headaches trust me ive had first hand experience with both i also had a user made module, the beat sonic is a much "cleaner" look http://www.beatsonicusa.com/other-ac...es/dlm2ep.html |
