17 year old looking for BRZ as a first car.

as the title suggests I will at somepoint in the next year be getting my first car. I've practiced a lot in my fathers manual truck, so I do know how to drive a manual just as well as I know how to drive an automatic. The BRZ I'd be getting would most likely be something like this http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invento...ting=127263679

Anyways, is it a decent first car? I'm a responsible kid and wouldn't push its limits.

Clearly not the right car for you. This is the car to be irresponsible and push its limits.

I think its a great car to start. My first car was a 300zx and when I was 19 I bought a brand new FRS right out of the showroom and have no regrets.

I would drive a lot of cars before I buy though if I was you. The FRS/BRZ is a car you will eaither love or hate. I would hate to see you trade it in for a stang after only a year or so. Make sure it is the right car for you before you buy one.

Haha I meant on the road! If I took it to a track I'd definitely push it's limits!

The car is design to let you push it's limit, it's not you want or you wont. You will want to push it just driving in traffic cuz the low torque/high rpm setup by nature.

it is stock. It's either too slow or quicker then others on road , if you want to drive it civilized and everything it just happened to be when the exhaust is most annoying...so ya... no.

in my opinion, you should probably buy a beater car for a year or two to gain experience and so that you don't get rammed up the butt by insurance companies. if anything happened to the BRZ due to inexperience, it would hurt your heart lol.

I agree with ryoma. Not saying twins aren't good for first car, but it's better to start off from beater car than starting off new/semi-new car.

If it is in your budget range (or your parents range) for a first car I don't think it is a bad idea due to the modest power figures and how easy it is to drive compared to some other vehicles.

I learned to drive in a rwd vehicle (4 cylinder s10) and even though it had 120 or so hp I managed to act irresponsible enough in it to wind up in a ditch. So basically for anyone that says it's to much of a car for a first car just keep in mind any vehicle a new driver can act reckless in and cause himself/herself some grief.

I would of been all over this car at 17 as many of us would. If I could of afforded it, I would not of denied myself the chance to experience the thrill that is experienced from owning such an extraordinary vehicle. Not to mention the amazing community that is involved with this car and the automotive passion that has spawned from this car alone.

Wouldn't trade it for the world.
