Will do! I'm #68 STX Silver Ignition FR-S with orange numbers and black fake TE-37's. I'll be roughing it in the parking lot with my massive 200sqft tent.

OT warning, lol
You the guy that posted asking about camping on site? I wish I had thought of that, but at least I found somebody to split my hotel with. Pretty expensive otherwise!

Yeah I barely had enough spare cash to pay the entry fees, there was no way I was affording a hotel too!

"Launch control" as implemented by OFT and Ecutek is marketing bullshit for what is actually a two step rev limiter (standard rev limit with clutch engaged, lower rev limit with clutch disengaged). They are simply changing timing parameters, there is no throttle modulation, there is no feedback loop (i.e. the system won't help you if your two step limiter is too high and you spin your tires). This is ST legal. Any questions? |

The subframe inserts were great. Car put down power so well I got sideways on accident at 20mph in my neighborhood - there was a bump or two that used to upset the car enough to prevent it from putting power down but the suspension started soaking up the bumps properly.
A week later I installed the diff bushing inserts and I have mixed feelings. For one, yes, there is some additional transmission whine. Unfortunately, it's less like straight cut Porsche gears (yay racecar) and more like an 18 wheeler with groaning brakes, but honestly the exhaust drowns most of that out. What's bad is now the car isn't soaking up bumps at all but hopping over them, almost like there's not enough compliance in the system; we are talking bad enough that I started thinking about softer rear springs. Yes, it does put the power down better, and I haven't tried it with race tires on. I may yet pull them though - I can just imagine the right bumps at Lincoln leaving a wheel airborne for a bit. I can also imagine that with less compliance at the diff, the axle will bear more loads and be more likely to snap. Anyone experience something similar or am I going crazy? |

I put the diff bushings in last week ahead of a club event, I've had the subframe bushings for a few months, I feel the same way that the diff inserts took away a bit of traction, but thought I was crazy, I was going to give them a bit more time but now that you mention it, I was getting worse wheel hop after putting in the diff bushings than with just the subframe bushings which were a big improvement over having nothing. Thought maybe I was being more aggressive and it was driver induced, but now that I'm thinking about it...
I've read others have pulled out the 'outrigger' bushings on the front diff ears and that significantly reduced the NVH, maybe that'll help a bit, but I'm going to give them more time, maybe they'll soften up. |

I've done the diff/subframe and trans insert bushings on both my cars. Neither one felt like I lost grip. However, I did do all of the inserts at the same time so did not experience just the addition of the diff inserts. What I noticed is the car was just much more responsive in the rear and yea, you feel all the bumps and cracks in the road more.
I only did 1 Pro Solo last year in the FRS, but had no axle problems with all the launches (and test launches, and 100+ other launches from other events). My car will be getting 40+ launches at the Pro this weekend though, so I will let you know how it goes .... and now I need to go knock on a lot of wood (yes I have a spare axle )

So close to taking down Wilcox! Great job!
I'm going next year for sure. That should give me enough time to get the rest of the parts I need. |
