Looks like there are two auto lock functions people are talking about here. Both the frs I have owned have only had one of them.
1. When you unlock the car but the door is not opened the car will lock itself again. I shut this feature off using techstream because my morning routine would be to unlock the car get my duster out of the trunk and dust the car. The car would always lock itself and piss me off. Techstream allows you to extend the time or disable this feature. 2. When driving down the road and reach a certain mph the doors will auto lock. I have not seen this feature on either of my frs or any 86 at all and there were no options in techstream for this. If someone has this feature I would want to know more about their car. Any alarms installed, ecu version, firmware version. This feature was always wanted by myself and many I know. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2 |

Theres an OBDII attachment in Japan that locks your doors while driving and unlocks when parked (handbrake engaged).

That and no easy fix to allow me mess with my nav while the car is moving. I feel like I've moved back in time.

Looks like the car won't lock automatically while driving. And It sounds right that the doors will lock automatically if you hit the unlock button, but don't open and use them. But if you were in the drivers door and driving the car, it won't lock automatically again.
Simple solution: Hit the button on your magic key fob that locks the doors whenever you're out of your car. |

Sorry, you guys are right. My wife's Subaru autolocks, but not the FRS. Definitely no setting in techstream.

Sorry to revive this thread, but this has been bugging me lately. So, my car will auto-lock when I'm driving, but only sometimes. I haven't figured out what triggers it, but it definitely is auto-locking on its own.
Whenever I try to replicate the feature I can't get it to work, but then randomly when I'm not paying attention I'll drive somewhere and when I try to get out of the car my doors are locked. This just happened again to me this morning, and the only thing I can think of is that I sat in my car for 30 seconds-1 minute before driving off. In the short distance I traveled I didn't go over 50-60 MPH. My drive lasted for less than 5 minutes, and somewhere during that time my doors auto-locked. Anyone have an idea what triggers this feature?? I've been trying to figure it out for a while now.

But what if you lose your brakes and need to make a jump out of the car in a flash or else it goes over a cliff and the unlock button isn't working.

Ok so I get that the car locks itself after an unlock if the doors haven't been opened for awhile (happens all the time when I'm washing the car) but does the car lock itself when you drive, park, and forget to lock the car? This is one of the things that I was always confused about because I thought the car locked itself after a certain period of time when parked. |

After seeing this, I sent an email to the international sales department to inquire about a purchase. I've yet to receive a reply back.
