My really only hate is backing it into a fence guard rail at speed and killing it.

It was a really fun car once I modified it to my liking.

I wouldn't own another boxer though, I've owned a few and am now officially over them.

Spark plugs took less time than a brake job, and is definitely not worth the $600 I’ve heard guys quoted. Don’t be afraid of the job. Once is was buttoned back up and stopped the clock, I couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about.
Is it and inline 4? No, but it was far easier and quicker than some lateral V6s I’ve done.

I'm sure you're all happy with your new car purchases but there's got to be some things you absolutely HATE on it. Perhaps, something that Toyota/Subaru added or removed in this car that was or wasn't in your previous car(s)... could be cosmetic, mechanical, electrical, etc. Anything goes..

So let's hear 'em!
Leaky tail lights.

what i hate the most is the front shock absorbers, it's too thin I think,
when go through potholes or deceleration zone in a higher speed, the whole car frame seems to be hit. they can't provide the car frame an tough support

I hate that for such a forward thinking platform, it takes spacers or coilover suspension to safely fit 255s on stock front suspension.
That's... all I've got.

I love my Toyota 86, I don't hate anything about it, just some dislikes:
-OEM Releaser/throwout bearing is absolutely crap, upgrade it as soon as you due for a clutch change, make sure the releaser bearing slide is clear of any wear when replacing.
- Even though you swith the traction control completely off by holding the T-Off button down for 5secs, the traction control still bites ever so slightly.
- Due to the above, you end up changing back brake pads alot more than the front.
- first Gen didn't get a boot lid liner so it's bare metal.
- I built a custom exhaust, it makes a world of difference to the car, every owner should install one.
- I had to cahnge the horn on the car, it just randomly went on for a sec and switched off.
- I had to change the tail lights twice, under warranty due to water intake.
- If you ever have to change the sparkplugs yourself, it's not a 5min job.

The above are small issues to take in consideration, the car is absolutely amazing and gives me a feeling no other car has.

The Subaru and Toyota did have a liner on the boot lid. This was a Scion cost cutting thing.

Lemme throw in some hate at my issues:
  • TOB
  • Valve Spring (not knowing if and when it goes)
  • Rubber Weather Seal
  • Dash above AC Center Vent
  • Plastic Trim on dash
  • The internet people not wanting to have a discussion and instead just say ITS SLOW, TORQUE DIP, NEEDS TURBO

Car has taught me to not buy the first gen and to wait out for special editions I guess.

Easy enough to fix. You can buy them through Subaru and others. The holes for the retaining pins are already there. Takes 2 minutes to install.

One of the first things I did to mine in 2012.
