Measuring demand: Lapping day @ The Ridge, Sept 16th

Go register here:
http://www.motorsportreg.com/events/...-events-145754

It's under the same registration page as the racing event, but you'll ONLY choose Lapping under the FRIDAY option.

6 Sessions.
Schedule here: http://icscc.com/2016/announce/irdc_sept_tnt.pdf

ORIGINAL POST from 7/11:
The IRDC has a test-n-tune on Friday Sept 16th before the race weekend but the TnT is only for race cars and drivers with racing licenses. I'm looking to add a group for lappers.

I'm measuring demand to see if it warrants the addition of a lapping group on Friday Sept. 16th.

- This is on a Friday.
- Lappers would be in their own group.
- There would be 4, maybe 5 sessions that would be ~20 minutes a piece.
- Price would be $180
- Previous experience required. Passing will be reserved for certain sections of the track.

There's lots of racers will be there on Friday to setup or do the tnt. They are very friendly and more than happy to talk setup, give advice etc. It will be fun to check out the race cars.

Is this something you would consider?

Thank you.

Well - our track time yesterday was actually called "Experience the Ridge"... so it has all the right words in it, MUST COUNT!

Unfortunately I will be on my way to Italy on Sept 16th so I wouldn't be able to make it - but after yesterday - if I was free I would be all-in for this. That track is awesome.

Price is fair. Interested if I can get my project car's cage build in time, then this can be the first time I take it to track. If not probably not gonna take wife's FRS... Stay tuned.

Based on that cost and amount of track time, I would most likely register.

For those who don't have any track experience, there's still two months left for you to get it! The Ridge racing school has several upcoming track days and 1 day schools. Do it!

I'm interested, but would have to attend one of their training events first.

Looks like a good amount of interest. Just about all the experience discussed here would be fine.

Thank you all for your feedback and excitement. Waiting on feasibility from our insurer. I hope to be confirming things this weekend.

September Lapping update:
I'm moving forward with this. We are going to limit this run group to 25 cars. The announcement will be out in a couple weeks and I will link the announcement and registration link here as soon as we have it official and up on ICSCC.com and MSR.

July 23/24 (this weekend)
For anyone who is looking for something to do this weekend, the IRDC has a race this weekend at Pacific Raceways. Entry is free, come check out the race cars and the loud noise. The PRO3 entry count is huge (spec E30s) and that's always exciting.

Here is the poster this weekend's event done by one FT86's very own.

Schedule is written. Waiting on confirmation from the board but it is written. I should see it on ICSCC.com and MSR by end of the week.

Entry is $180.
Looks like 6 lapping sessions on the schedule.

Previous Lapping/Racing/HPDE experience is required. If you don't know the basics, can't follow the rules or don't know how to handle your car safely (or are unwilling to) then this is not for you. Passing will be in designated zones with a point. You're on your own for lunch.

and...!

The Olympic Grand Prix Go-Kart track is going to host a 1 hour karting enduro.
  • $100/team.
  • Teams can be 1-4 people.
  • Pit stops every 15 minutes.
It's open to the racers and lappers so theoretically a group of lappers could make a team and see how they stack up against teams of racers... because competition.
