That's true as well. Unless you are a kid in college or a young person who is not tied down with kids, a car like the FR-S probably wouldn't be your only vehicle (lack of room/backseat, rough winters in some parts of the country). Sports cars are luxury items, and people who have them usually have the money to own them in addition to daily drivers or other family vehicles. The average person just doesn't have the disposable income to justify a "weekend" car or an "impractical" car anymore

Regarding the rear seat room, it looks like the rear window/trunk could use a tiny raise to improve aerodynamics, this may be a possible update they make...and it would increase rear headroom by like an inch or two, and increase trunk volume by a bit.
I think the "low end sportscar" approach is correct, you want to make it a car that enthusiasts can enjoy while hauling some stuff around if needed. I mean you see a fair number of Civic coupes around (they're slightly bigger of course) and Accord coupes and stuff, so I think there is a market for a slightly more expensive, but still practical car. This car is sorta cutting some corners when it comes to practicality though... |

I doubt it. The z line seems to have taken its place. A used z with higher miles is selling for similar prices as a clean 240 around here

Nissan does have a new Silvia/240sx in the works, it was supposed to come out around the same time as the FT86/BRZ but the project was put on hold due to the economic crisis in 2008-09. It was around 70% complete at the time including the exterior. It will probably be a few more years but Nissan has supposedly started back on the project, here's a link to a Motortrend article with more detail and here are some pics below.

Nissan was the first to say they were interested in making a small RWD car after Toyota. It was a few years back now but it's possible. Here are a few pictures 7tune had uploaded at the time

I wounder what happend to "Power 88" plan?? when they told the world about it I was happy and had the feeling that new siliva will born... but since then no news?
Edit: also sports car segment is Dying see people are now more intersted in CUV/SUV thing. Thats why you see those companys don't make sports cars anymore, they don't sell well = lose money

It would be nice to see Nissan introduce a new Silvia but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe Infiniti will step up to the plate but that would probably be defeating the point of a small lightweight RWD "attainable" sports car.

Wonder what their selling point would be if they decided to make one. Obviously if they bring it to market after the FT-86, it has got to be better than the FT-86 in certain areas. We know it won't be a lower center of gravity and doubt it will be lighter so what would it be? More power? Lower price? Better looks?

I can see a lot of Infiniti's current design language in there.
