Single Piece Driveshafts and issues with Short Shifters

Ok I have been searching and I can find mention of single piece driveshafts causing issues with shifting if you have a short shifter but apparently I'm not using the right search terms to find the threads on it.

I'm hoping to find a solution basically.

I have the driveshaft shop's single piece aluminum driveshaft and the kartboy shirt shifter asking with various other modifications.

Randomly upshifting or downshifting I will be locked out of second gear. No other gears, no grinding, no amount of pushing the clutch pedal in and out more than once fixes it. I have coasted back down to close to 10mph and still can't get into gear. It's like hitting a wall where you would normally shift into second almost like a lock out.

Now I have a whiteline transmission bushing I have yet to install but other than that I have the kartboy included bushing installed and the mugen rear diff brace. So I would like to believe there's not much more I can do to keep things in place if that's even the issue but I would like to believe there is something I can do to stop this Without losing any modifications.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Sounds weird. From your description it's not case of common trait for these gearboxes of hard to engage 2nd after cold start for brief moment until short heat up. Hmm, not using some out of viscosity spec oil? I somewhat suspect something gone wrong with gears or synchro for that gear, not your specific set of mods to transmission.

The first place I would look at is the lockout plate.

I have the DSS CF shaft and KB SS, and no problems between them.

I however have had problems before where the lockout plate has shifted or I did not install it correctly and it locked me out of second or first. Good luck!!

what i do now to align it is tighten it loosely so it will still move, and let the shifter move it to place repeatedly going from first to second and when im satisfied with the position, tighten it carefully so it doesnt move. then drive it going to 1st second and reverse a few times to make sure its spot on.

Alright so an update sorry been busy with work and the Honey Do List...

So I finally got the Whiteline bushing in and it made a nice difference but I still have my issue and I have been able to replicate it (When it's going to happen that is) mainly when cornering. So if I turn in 1st (Say a freeway off ramp) and then go to hit second that's when I will experience the issue if I am going to at all. (Sometimes it happens otherwise but this si where I notice it the most).

It has lessened a lot since the shifter bushing went in but it has still happened a few times since then (2 or 3).

I am going to change out the clutch fluid and rebleed it to see if that helps as I am not sure what could be left at this point.

I will keep updating as time goes on.

So the problem was my fault and related to the lock out plate. I meant to check it originally and ended up having to go but the issue was that when I set it apparently it started to move but not in, out. It was all the way out basically so it was trying to shift into second to far to the left and obviously the gear was not there. Once I corrected that everything has been working great.

So user Error folks!
