Frs300 Fa20club built motor and turbo build

I dont like making these types of posts at all but i figured i would put all the information into one thread. First off I got my car back in Nov and decided i wanted to turbo it before i even drove off the lot. I had already done some research and decided to go with the @FullBlown kit because my buddy at work had one on his s2000. LJ at FBM was great to work with and was quick to answer any questions I had about the kit. After talking with him for a few days i decided I would order the Premium kit, FX400 and eventually exhaust.

Well as many of you know I made the mistake of having a friend at Toyota install it for me over a few day period. The install itself went great looked nice and clean and was done correct. However that being said after only 100 miles i blew the engine which was in no way @FullBlown fault. This could have been prevented if i wasnt being stupid and impatient and driving car around before installing AEM failsafe. so i decided to send it to @FA20Club.com and have Tony(i) put a built motor in it. While it was sitting in the shop i also decided i would go ahead and sell the Fullblown kit and switch to a fa20club.com kit so i could have them do the entire build. My car has been in the shop for over 4 months now sept 2 will be 5 months. Most of the wait has been due to the car being so new and aftermarket parts being hard to get because most are being made as orders are placed and there is a 3-4 week wait. I do think things with Tony could have been sped up a little but and priorities shuffled around a bit. I understand ppl take vacations and have personal issues they need to attend to on a day to day basis but i honestly think his business has grown so much over last few months and that's part of the delay on my car. Other than that both LJ @FullBlown and Tony @FA20Club.com have been awesome to deal with and both have excellent customer service and have helped me when ever i have asked for it.

@FT-86 SpeedFactory is another place i would like to mention they have also been nothing but helpful when it comes to getting parts. I would say 98% of the parts i have ordered aside from the engine and turbo stuff has been from them. Wheels i got from Dustin@Dynosty . Im still not done ordering stuff Im about to order axles, drive shaft, and bbk from ft86speedfactory along with some other small things to finish this build up until something else goes wrong.

In the meantime enjoy and keep checking back for updates. Im shooting for somewhere around 500whp

Nice! Can't wait to see the finished product but I have to ask...did you ever determine the cause of failure with the motor? I understand there wasn't an AEM Failsafe installed but what was the cause?

Man...those heads and pistons and rods! Amazing!!

I know the wait has totally sucked bro but I honestly feel that you're one of very few people that has built this motor out to this extent and being so new, everything has a wait time. Give it a year and these parts will be readily available but for now its the waiting game. Whenever you have that much money tied up in a toy it's always shitty to wait.

I still haven't been by there to see your car this week and now I may not have to go there at all. Mishimoto has been behind on shipments so to expedite the process they are drop shipping me the cooler to my house. I really want to go check it out bad though.

What's the current status and ETA on the build?

Did you contemplate trying a FB25 shortblock instead of a FA20 shortblock?
