It would be really cool if we could turn this into an "86 Cup" and maybe offer some kind of trophy/sticker/shirt for the best PAX time in an 86. Maybe a novice champ also depending on how many register.

Hey guys/gals! Joey has been working really hard in getting this together for the 86 community. He has been a continued supporter of our monthly meets when he is not autocrossing. This track day is specifically designed for our 86 group who have little to no autocross experience! It will be a fun time for the enthusiast who truly want to learn their car and it's limitations.

FYI guys I'm reading about the exhaust contest in the other thread and I do need to point out that we have a 96db @ 50ft sound limit on cars at Packwood. This event takes place less than a quarter mile from town and in order to appease the (constant) noise complaints we run with strict sound limits. If you are using straight pipe or a turbo with an open dump you may need to consider some sound deadening options. There are a limited quantity of turn-downs available on site if you think you'll be over. Warnings go out at 93db and you lose your counted run at 96db (it goes as a DSQ) but are given a chance to fix it. If you still can't fix it you're done for the day.

I don't like having to point out nit-picky rules like this but in order to keep running legal racing events we have to abide by them. The board meeting I just attended on Tuesday had a huge debate over this (in both meetings I've attended we've had hour long sound debates) and it's an issue they take very seriously. Unfortunately at one of our practice events this year we had a novice show up and blow 108db (he was running 3" straight pipe on a Mustang I believe). If anyone thinks they might have an issue with sound please let me know and I will put you in contact with our chief of sound to discuss it prior to the event. We can do static readings or drive you along the side of the course real quick to test it.

I'm fairly certain none of you will have a problem unless you actively have been trying to make your car loud but I've been surprised before. Typically it's GT-Rs, Mustangs, and WRX/STIs that have issues.

As cool as that sounds we need this event to be a success first before I can entertain other options like that.

Let's talk at the end of August, k?

If this event is successful it will likely become an annual thing and then 2 or 3 other car clubs will have their own annual ones as well.

P.S. I don't have you on the list butterson; what gives?!?

Not actively trying, but it has been an unhappy byproduct of trying to shed as many points of failure (cats) and as much weight (mufflers) as possible on my mostly track and b-road driven car.

'Twas NWAA, they have an ORP trackday in September for damn cheap.

Just a quick update for everyone. I'm working on getting the provisional class created right now. Hopefully sometime tomorrow I will have registration details for you.

Bernie has told me that someone else will be able to help get you all out to Packwood safely so that I can be on site early to set up a meet area and get things organized. A lot goes into doing things like this and I want it to go as smoothly as possible for you guys!

One of our regulars from 86 Sessions will be taking care of everyone for the cruise portion, details to follow as the event gets closer.

Tentatively I would like to go to this... Anyone thought about doing a day up at Pacific Raceways on the road course? Nearest is September I believe.

Thanks! I'll make a tentative list but I need at least 10 fully committed people to make a provisional class and get this to happen.
