If you just want to know the E level, there are already things that will let you do that. But having it integrated with a tune will be awesome. Who wants to sample the E, edit tables, and re-flash every time you go to the pump? Looking forward to seeing this released too - great work, guys!

Hi. I'm trying to install Ptuning's Flex Fuel System into my Toyota 86.
In the instructions, one of the steps required wire tapping into Pin 20 on the A35 ecu connector. Apparently, in the US, there is a wire in that spot.
But my Toyota 86 here in the Philippines does not. So basically, i was searching online to see if it's possible to hook up a wire into the empty spot. Luckily I saw your post. Just to confirm,putting a wire into #20 will provide an input signal needed for the flex fuel system?

The two commonly used sensor inputs are the rear oxygen sensor (O2S2) and the Evap pressure sensor. ECU pins as per diagram below (the wiring manual has the connectors as if you were looking end on at the harness plug - they are mirror-imaged when you look at them plugged in to the ECU.

I had a look at the connector AD2 (which is more accessible than the ECU) which joins the ECU to the fuel pump and Evap cannister harness: the wires were not there for the Evap cannister (A01G ROM). It turns out that I am in luck and the ECU does not interrogate Evap Pressure in my A01G car, so I don't need to compensate for losing the signal.

Moving on to connector A35 on the ECU, pin 20 was empty and I decided to hook a wire up to it. Pulled the connector out - it turns out that I could use the Molex pin from a scrap IDE type ribbon cable on this. To do this, lift the retainer on the IDE plug with a pick and pull the connector out. The A35 connector has a horizontal locking tab in the middle - that needs to be pulled out about 2mm, then the IDE Molex pin slides all the way down the barrel and does not come out when the locking tab is replaced. See last picture for new wire placement.

Ecutek flex kits can hook up the signal wire from flex sensor to either the evap system input or the rear 02 sensor.

If your kit and tune is set up for evap input then yes hook signal wire up to pin20 an connector A35 of ecu, and yes in some countries like australia and appears yours their will be no wire on that ecu pin as evap system not used on stock car. The ecutek software or ztans code will tell the ecu to now use that input for flex sensor.

I understand that. But I was mainly after the fact that this guy pinned a wire into Pin#20 in the ecu A35 connector, which is what I needed to do.

Thanks! Yea, I'll be getting it tuned via ecutek once the flex fuel system is installed. I just wanted to make sure if pinning a wire in that empty evap pressure sensor slot will still provide a signal

The more fiddling i do with these ecu's it appears that the actual ecu hardware is likely the same accross many countries. I seen people put Australian/european roms in USA cars , Australian/european roms in japanese cars and they still work. But their are wiring differences and other subtle difference in the cars.

If those are your instructions, A35-20 is where you need to put the pin. You will need appropriate software/logging ability to read that input. My A01G AUDM harness did not have a wire in that spot and I was able to read the input at the RAM address described above.

Test after installing to make sure you can get sane data from whichever software system you are using in the place you expect it...

Yup, pinning at A35-20 was successful. We tested it using Ecutek

I started ramping up the timing and leaning it out at E10 as my NA 98RON maps don't drop IAM like the openflash maps do on E0 and run fairly rich.



Fuelling Compensation



Fuelling Interpolation



Timing Interpolation

E10 is up to around 0.3 extra advance, E20 is up to around 0.9 extra advance.



Cranking Compensation

I didn't understand why ztan's values were so high between 20 and 40, but it makes sense when you have zero IPW compensation. 10C will still be a little thin I think, but it's not generally that cold here. Everywhere else including 0C, 20C, 30C should have plenty.
