JDL Catted Header

http://jdlautodesign.net/shop/ft86-c...length-header/

I don't know if this is really being offered by JDL. I can't find any info on the forums. Anyone have any information it?
How does it compare to the ft86 speedfactory header.

Well the obvious is the SpeedFactory header is UEL while this one is EL.

If it's on their website, it's most likely being offered. Just contact them if you're curious.

If you look on the same site, their catted UEL is clearly on their website too:

Nah man. they put it on their site for fun. (Joke)

Yes. Of course they sell one too. That's why it's on their site.

They have a whole thread about their exhaust systems: HERE.

Does anyone have dyno numbers for the JDL UEL Catted headers? Can't seem to find anything online about it.

I have the JDL Catted UEL Header on my car. Compared to the FT86 SpeedFactory Header, JDL has the better quality. In terms of fitting the header and installing it, I heard that the FT86 SpeedFactory Header is a bit more difficult compared to the JDL. Also JDL's UEL header has longer pipes, which in a sense would give more rumble. Performance wise, I'd have to go with JDL. I heard that they've really studied and researched on making their header produce the best results.

Thanks, I was looking at the forums and I really couldn't find any information on it. I really am interested in JDL now, and I'm debating if I want to go catted or non catted. I was wondering if the catted was a bit loud for your taste.

I've been interested in the JDL catted UEL as well, but I've never had an aftermarket header before, and I have a bit of a loud exhaust, so the increase in volume, etc was a concern to me.

I emailed JDL a few weeks ago, and here is some of that Jesse had to say with regards to answering my questions; maybe it will help answer some of your questions as well -

"As far as sound goes, we designed the catted UEL with the same short bank to long bank runner length ratio as the uncatted UEL so the exhaust note is very similar. The catted version is a little quieter as the cat tones it down a bit and reduces a bit of rasp.

In terms of power the uncatted version will make a few more peak hp, i would say about 5 at absolute most. The headers perform very similar throughout the low end and midrange. To be honest its very hard if not impossible to really feel a difference between the 2 in a car.

Both headers will be louder than stock, The piping used is thinner higher grade material that resonates a difference sound."

Let me find a dyno from the initial prototype... I took a car with drop in filter and 3" cat back, dyno tuned it... Swapped on the header and retuned for a fair comparison. Interesting characteristics. Torque dip was still present iirc but made almost the same tq increase at every rpm. The entire plot just shifted up. They decided to not produce it for whatever reason but I was fairly impressed overall. I was told that they would sell if someone asked for it but they weren't going to post it up anywhere. It looks like they changed their mind.

Catback + stock rom
Catback + dyno tuning
Catback + JDL catted UEL + dyno tuning

Note manual transmission cars avg 130-135whp on this dyno. Autos around 125. This car made ~128.2 with the catback iirc. Gains are fairly decent imo.

this was probably one of my favorite sounding exhaust setups to date.
