NO SPARE for 2024??

Hey all,

I noticed after I purchased my '24 86 there was no spare in the trunk. Is that by design or is there some aftermarket kit I am not aware of?

Thanks in advance.

Do you know if the Styrofoam placeholder out of the '24 models fits well on the first gens? The OEM spare doesn't fit over my brakes, so no sense in lugging it around. It would be nice to have an OEM solution to filling that gap though.

I can't think of a reason the '22+ stuff shouldn't fit in 1st-gen tire well...

Is the tire well also fitting the 18”. Not sure how to organize it for the 18”. Also, the spare needs to be something that clears the Brembo.

PP cars came with 17" spare while rest came with 16" spare in previous gen. Wheel well, brembos package are all still same. I wrote a guide with part numbers on GR86 forum for PP

Last generation twins came with spare in rear which had 16" wheel but there was also a different spare for performance package. Performance package spare had 17" wheel in order to fit over Brembos.

Thanks for posting here. Was checking the tread in the other GR86 forum. All great info.
Getting a trueno so I assume I will need all parts. Was previous gen PP cars 18” and spare 17? If that’s the case I can do the same set up. But read that having the 17 spare on the rear there will be 0.2 difference. Will that affect?
I wish that the 18” wheel and tires fit the styrofoam directly so no change will be needed .

Yes, previous gen PP came with 17" spare and 18" wheels.

You never install spare in rear. If rear has puncture then you have to put spare in front and install front in rear.

Thanks for all the great info.
Looks like getting the below parts and a fitting jack (I think someone had the part # in the forum) will solve all the issue.

Spare Tire Bolt : 901720002
Spare Tire Washer

PP Spare Wheel: 28151FE030
PP Spare Tire: 28121VA050

It should. See if any BRZ owner wants to sell the jack, it comes with a jack so I didn't bother looking up part number. If some BRZ owner doesn't want to add spare then probably won't need jack either.

Thanks

Perhaps a little off-topic... I think a plug-kit + pump + jack/wrench is the best combo for these cars. Just remove the tire, plug it, inflate, then re-mount. Easy peasy. (And there appears to be a cosmic rule that one will not have a flat if properly prepared for it.)
