I just dropped a big chunk of my "still waiting for a new car I want" budget on a mint 2.5k km 2016 HD street bob, last of the dynas.

It gets delivered tomorrow morning, sweeeeeeeeet.

This will give me time to see if Toyota delivers an affordable sports coupe with a inline 4 and manual transmission over the next year or 2.

My car broker said his contacts have absolutely no news on a new, gen 2, 86.

If, and at this stage it's a big if, Toyota do come to the party, I can see if the new one, if thete is a new one, is anygood, and I won't be buying into the risk of a series 1 gen 2.

I came close to getting a new ND, but I just cannot like the arse end.

Meh, it was a good ride while it lasted.

Fortunately my masculinity and self image isn’t wrapped up with the car I drive, because neither the MX-5 nor the twins are considered macho cars by knuckle-draggers who worship horsepower and straight-line speed. To such people all these light weight, low HP sportscars are ‘hairdressers cars.’ So don’t kid yourself into thinking you will impress the HP bros with your twin compared to an MX-5.

I see more women driving rhe twins than men, it is the cheap sports car thing, and they don't need to worrying about hair and makeup.

My Mrs wouldn't drive my MX5 with the roof down as it was to windy.

Meh, in the end it is only insecure blokes that worry if their car is "manly" enough.

In short, the next-gen cars will be near identical, with the exception of some new badges and a few revised exterior trim pieces.

That’s it. Otherwise, the “next-gen” Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 will be the same car with a different engine that provides very little extra grunt.
if true, that would explain the spy shots :p

There is no info there they are just parroting other websites. That is what makes it funny.
The same site that started this newest rumour has given us about 4 other "confirmed" versions of the car based on "insider" information so why should this one be believed all of a sudden?
The fun part is that no matter what version comes out then the clickbaits will seem to be right since they have covered pretty much every possible combination over the last few months. They will just have to rely on the gullible readers that believe everything they say to forget that they have changed their story so many times.

An enlightened man! True enthusiasts don't care what other people think about your car. The only thing that matters is what you think of it.

I hate the common use of the word "enthusiasts". It isn't a catch all.
There are diesel truck enthusiasts that despise us because we can't roll coal.
There are Prius enthusiasts that think we are morons for not getting 40MPG.
Hell, there are minivan enthusiasts that think everybody else are nuts because they can't haul around 9 people!
My point being that because people like one sort of vehicle there is no reason that they should like them all. They will make fun of what they don't like so people may as well just roll with it.
As you said as long as you like what you have then who cares what others think or say?

You mean like the common use of the words animals, or mamals, or humans, or Canadians, or athletes, or competitive swimmers, or breast stroke enthusiasts (I imagine there is such a thing...)? Taxonomy is a thing lol.

I think you mean the common misuse of the word "enthusiasts". All those types of enthusiasts are still enthusiasts, we just don't represent all of them here. We do represent a wide variety of the "somewhat light weight somewhat sporty RWD car enthusiasts" though, or maybe more specifically the "FRS/GT86/GT86/BRZ enthusiasts". Interestingly enough unlike species/evolution trees, individuals can be part of more than one group too.

Thought it was clear that I meant the use of the word to cover everybody and as such you are somehow expected to love all vehicles for some bizarre reason.
Of course you can be more than one type of enthusiast. I didn't say otherwise.
Ironicly enough many of the self proclaimed "enthusiasts" on this forum seem to despise the car and want to turn it into something it isn't.
Guess it is all part of the current world order though.

Back to "Insider Info..." for a moment. I just read the following with regards to the JDM only new limited edition WRX called; The WRX S4 STi Sport #

"...roughly 90% of U.S. WRX STI buyers go for the six-speed 'box. That leaves the WRX STI out of the company's EyeSight driver assistance tech, which only works with Subaru's CVT, and we still don't know if Subaru will prioritize ultimate safety throughout the lineup or give enthusiasts the transmission they clearly want when the next-gen WRX STI shows up next October or thereabouts."

So how does this relate? Well, if Subaru's Eye Sight tech only works with CVT transmissions and if the click bait sites are correct that the next gen will have a 6 speed manual version then... NO EYE SIGHT Nanny for the gen 2 twins.

Or the clickbaits are wrong about the manual transmission...
