Met THE MAN yeaterday - Tada San, Chief Engineer for Toyota for the Toyota 86 (among other projects)

Got dash, owners manual, TRD certificate of authenticity and a couple of pics of car on track signed by him. Was a great day - neat guy.

How did you manage to get a set of gloss black TWS wheels? I tried to order a set in Japan but they need a minimum order of 5 sets (20 wheels) for the gloss black version.

I end up getting a set of Silver

Just asked my supplier and paid $50 extra per wheel for the factory to do in gloss black and then waited three months to get them custom.

But, yeah if you go to their custom site it says 5 cars or 20 wheels minimm.

My supplier here in NZ is the sole TRD importer here in NZ and has fantastic contacts in Japan incl TWS. He could get you a black set and get them shipped to USA as another forum member based in USA was going to get a set through him but decided not to in the end. If you want another set let me know and I'll PM you my supplier that will ship to USA.

Just got some awesome news from Toyota New Zealand. Well great for me anyway.

The TRD 86 model here in New Zealand has been discontinued and they only sold nine of the 20 TRD cars they were going to limit it to.

Even better news is that the other eight sold were either from the base 86 model or if built from our higher spec GT86 model are automatic.

So, I have the ONLY official TRD GT86 manual car in New Zealand and given our spec is higher than the UK (Brembo branded TRD BBK etc) it is pretty much the only one in the WORLD!

Yee-hah!

It was the first TRD86 model built - TRD001 here in NZ and was built by Toyota NZ and is certified as TRD001. Livery was modelled on the 2000GT race car from days gone by. Toyota NZ sold it to @Tech on this forum so he owns two 86s.

Thanks @nzer for posting the cool pictures of "33" I don't think I even have some of those in my own collection.

So yes, for those who are interested, I am the owner of the TRD86 which I commonly call "33". The livery is a tribute to the original Toyota 2000GT which was raced and driven by American "Scooter Patrick" back in 1967.

There have been some further performance mods done beyond the original TRD spec.

I was also lucky enough to get the hood signed by Tetsuya Tada.

Job done!

You should post up a car journal @Tech as I'm sure people would be keen to know about your cars
