Would you take your $ spent and a stock motor, over your FI setup?

If you could go back to stock and have the $ spent back, would you?

Thinking of doing a ‘mild’ turbo setup, around 7-10 PSI. Big intercooler, 93 octane, tuned via laptop and ECUtek. Local builder has built a few of these. My top priority is safety/reliability. Looking back, if you have a similar FI setup, would you do it again? I know this is a very subjective question, but that was the aim. Looking to gauge a general opinion.

No, i wouldn't.

I've driven NA ones since boosting mine last year and they're incredibly boring. Personal opinion.

Nope, but I'd go big SC if I knew better when I started. 280 is not enough

I'd take the money back and put it towards an LS2 or LS3.

Thanks guys, trying to gauge what people thought of their FI setup, in retrospect.

Also interesting to hear when you went back and drove an NA car.

I could have saved myself the $31350+25000 cost of car and parts and kept my 135i in hindsight if I was smart.

Never again.

After everything I have done and all the cars I have tuned if I could do it all over again I would just have done a vortech or an avo kit. Both are the easiest things in the world to tune, have great headroom without having to upgrade the unit. Have been on the market for longer than most and have their kinks sorted. And they look / feel more stock. Both are sized very well and are very cost efficient when you consider the headroom and what they offer when it comes to ease of tuning. I could probably do 1-3 flashes to get "close enough" for daily use on my own car when it comes to tuning those.

For reference I have a gtx30r running mid 20's psi on ethanol and I have been browsing transmissible options as I am on my third one, and have already broken a set of DSS axles. So I have had my fair share of boost. lol

I went on a canyon drive last night and turned my car down to 8psi (on ethanol) and rarely broke 1/4 throttle. There is really little need for more than 8-12psi unless you are doing dedicated drag.

I'll probably just go for a 2017 Camaro SS. Comes modded already and for a pricetag of 40-43k, you get quite a bit. Granted my FR-S is still N/A, I've read enough builds, and parts needed to make it work and even then it is a dice roll. I just know if I add an SC, I'll be wanting even more power.

Sometimes I wish I had just bought a mustang GT for the sound of the V8. But I don't regret getting my AVO kit because I have learned so much from doing it.
