Looking at the production numbers for Lexus sedans, the numbers aren’t impressive. This fast turnover could be a combination of factors, such as the following: Lexus and dealerships anticipating low volume due to the pandemic, so they are stocking conservatively; the IS got a refresh, which always boosts sales initially; and the BMW 3/4 series wasn’t exactly a hit, so maybe Lexus is absorbing some of BMW’s sales.

However Toyota does have a twin turbo V6 already in the Lexus LS500 (and from what i understand it is not a twin turbo version of the 2GR V6, but its a brand new dynamic force family V6, i think the engine code is V35M or something), which wouldnt make any sense if this patent actually referred to that motor since...well its already been out for awhile. |

The twin turbo i6, v6, and v8 engines of the competition take huge, steaming dumps on Lexus performance. Toyota simply has old technology here. Sure, it'll last, but that matters more for the used market than the new.

They don't want to lose brand reputation either. They are keenly aware long term reliability is a selling point for them. |

I've had my IS-F now for 3 years (MY 2010). I purchased it with 99K miles on the clock, and I'm now at 145K miles currently. They'll make these to last without a doubt!

I have not heard that the hot V engines have more issues than anything else the Germans make.
